To start off, I think the thead title is wrong. I'm no Vick fan, and am very critical of him mainly because of the media love fest and the attitude he exhibits at times, but I do not think he is "horrible". You would be a fool to argue that he isn't a tremendous athlete with one hell of an arm. His problem is that from what I've seen, when he stays in the pocket and doesn't rely on his legs to make plays, he has too much of a "gunslinger" mentality and has a problem locking onto one reciever (hello Alge Crumpler). I posed the question a few pages back whether you would want him leading your team, down a touchdown in a hostile stadium with the time winding down. That is how I judge a good QB. For me with Michael Vick, until he shows me something more as a passer, the answer is no.

And for the record, if the Falcons could play a lick of defense they would be in the playoffs right now, b/c they would have wins over Green Bay and 2 over Tampa. Both games against Tampa Vick led them to game winning tds just to watch the defense give them up at the end, and Gado had a career high against the Falcons.

Please leave personal bashings out of this thread. That comes from immature people.

Dude, chill out. I'm not bashing anyone's race. I apologize if you find that offending, and you have every right to. I probably didn't explain it as well as I could have, and I apologize for that. I don't have a problem with any race, of any sort. Michael Vick is a great playmaker, and player, but right now he seems to lack confidence in his passing game. I think if you give him two more years, then he will emerge into a giant threat to all of his opponents.

I agree on the race issue but after that no.

He brought the R Mexico shit on himself for doing it. Anyone who does that and is found out in any walk of life is going to get a shitload of grief. Showing the world what a large style asshole you are with the "don't ever question my accuracy again" press conference only intensifies the heat. His little brother is a degenerate scumbag and coupling that with the Mexico fiasco my opinion is the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

If bringing up shit he does is hating on someone then I have completely misunderstood the meaning of the phrase up untill now. I thought it was simply calling it like it is.

As far as having a good debate goes, thats completely laughable. I've touched on this many times but jumping back and forth between "he plays on a bad team", "give him credit for his running", "he's young", "he wins games" etc. just shows you have no fundamental logical argument that can be defended.

Simply put your trying to convince everyone that Vicks a good QB and you can't because he isn't.

I know for my part this thread would be significantly shorter if not for the blind, media-hype-buying, lame-excuse-making, hero worship that I keep seeing in it.

The last little snippet of rapid fire excuses about his teams defense and woulda could shoulda as to why they are home for the playoffs could pretty much be the symbolic Pro-Vick post to represent all that have gone before it.

I didn't like Vick before this train wreck started but wasn't that passionate about it, he was simply an overrated douchebag to me. After reading the hyperbole from his supporters I have to say he's up there with Charles Woodson and Desmond Howard on my "I hate his fucking guts" scale.

i didn't mean that he wasn't a highlight reel, i'm just sayin that he could be focusing on doing other things besides worrying about making sportscenter's top 10. i'm also saying that i would rather have a QB that can lead a team to victory, rather than just make exciting plays, because in the end that is what lasts longer.

Agreed, Vick is by no means "horrible". I wouldn't call him that great, but he is not horrible. The person who started this thread was obviously just trying to get people upset without a ton of an arguement backing him up. This just became the Michael Vick thread by default. But I also agree with you on one thing about him being a "gunslinger", because that is exactly what he is. The problem is, it just gets you into trouble alot more than it does make the actual play.

I'll give Vick some credit. He played pretty well against a very good defense, yesterday. He needs to find ways to win, though because that team should be a Super Bowl contender with the players they have on both sides of the ball. It's kind of ironic if you think about the two teams in the NFC Championship last year, with them not even making the playoffs this year. I don't think Vick is a very good quarterback right now, but I'm sure if you give him the right coaches, then he'll be a pretty good QB a couple years down the road.

Michael Vick's ability is why Dunn and Duckett have so much running room. They are fantastic players, but the defense must stay at home on the outside to avoid the bootleg/rollout.
I know they could have performed better, but the Falcons' defense is not that bad.

The falcons defense was not that great, however you slice it. You can make excuses for them, but they did not hold up their end of the bargain. I think there are valid excuses, such as the O not consuming enough time... however if anyone tries to make excuses for Vick they are blasted for it...

he is the ultimate highlight reel, b/c he does incredible things and then awful things all in one game. That sums up a typical sportscenter snapshot of a game.

excuse me, what does this have to do with race? what does race have to do with the fact that he had a horrible year and he might very well be the worst pro bowl QB of all time.
what does race have to do with the fact that somebody is suing him for giving them a venereal disease?
He is being bashed because he is the most overrated QB in the league and it is funny listening to clueless fans defend his sucky play.

Vick hasn't looked that awful, but my God you were right CrazyBucky, their defense, with the exception of that one goal line stand today. I think a lot of it may be that they're down from last week's loss, and being eliminated from playoff contention, but they should show some more respect to the fans than they are today that came to support them. I honestly expect the Falcons to come out hard next year and be a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

I didnt see the paly, but Gamble just picked Vick off, It was a long pass so not sure if it was a jumpball or what. I am sure he is trying to force now that they are getting thier asses handed to them.

Hell Foster had 100 yards on just 8 carries. The defense is really bad.

No worries dude. Right now they're just down and out and Carolina has everything to lose. Their defense isn't this bad. I don't even think that their D is terrible. I'm sure many things will be resolved in the offseason, and they'll be a pretty good team next year.
