Mike Vick (Pittsburgh Steelers)

Here is a question. Put Vick in a Texans uni and tell me they don't have more than 2 wins.

David Carr has been coming along really well. Thank you very much. Their offensive line has been blocking much better, too. They are giving the Jags a great effort as we speak, and have looked pretty damn good their last couple of games.

Now on to Vick... it looks like he's playing pretty well right now, and I think that he REALLY needs to win this game right now.

Ok.....They don't have more than 2 wins.

Nice to see the return of the "he wins games" thing with a slight variation. Can't say as I'm shocked.

EDIT******

"He wins games" takes it in the ass this afternoon. Mexico will have plenty of Internet time on his hands soon.

Maybe he and his brother can go cruise chicks together.

Put David Carr in a Falcons uniform, and maybe the falcons win more than 8 games.

I can guarantee you that if you put David Carr in a Falcons uniform that they win more games than they have now. Well I can't guarantee it, but I think so. Anyways, look at David Carr's stats. They aren't that admirable, but for a guy that has come up with an awful expansion team, they are pretty good. I believe that his QB rating is better than Vick's. I know that that isn't the most important stat, but if he can post up a 77 QB rating with the Texans' offensive line, then I think that it's quite possible that he could put up superstar-like numbers with any decent team. Carr is also a pretty good runner, himself. I hope that no one finds this racially demeaning, but I think that many people that consider themselves "gangster" or "ghetto" think that Vick is God's gift to sports, and I find this very arrogant because they have no common knowledge of the game of football. Vick is a good player, but in all honesty I think that David Carr has just as bright of a future, if not better.

how exactly is that not demeaning?

People find Vick to be incredible because he is the ultimate highlight film... not sure why you have to be black/ghetto to hold that belief. The arrogant phrase doesn't make any sense, I know plenty of brilliant football minds that are arrogant pricks... those two characteristics are not mutually exclusive.

I've expressed multiple times that I think he is overhyped and overcriticized on here (there are some on here that are more obsessed with vick than cbf40 and the other falcon fans). But I have no idea where the above comment came from. I agree Carr is a better qb, fyi.

Yeah. Sorry. My vocabulary is pretty bad, but what I meant was that at my school that I go to many African-American people seem to think that he is an amazing QB, and that he is the best thing that ever happened to the NFL. It's kind of like how the NBA is being taken over by street ballers. It's just my insight, and I could be totally off-topic or wrong, but I just don't want you guys to think that I am a racist, in the least. It's probably terrible insight, but it doesn't seem totally irrelevant to me.

Man WTF is wrong with some of you. Now race comes into the picture, and bashing him calling him Mexico and to go find some chicks.

Man try and have a good debate with fellow buckeye fans and this is what you get, play the race card and hate on him.

It cool if you don't think he is a good qb, but dont bring other things into the picture. It is clear why you guys bash him now.

And for the record, if the Falcons could play a lick of defense they would be in the playoffs right now, b/c they would have wins over Green Bay and 2 over Tampa. Both games against Tampa Vick led them to game winning tds just to watch the defense give them up at the end, and Gado had a career high against the Falcons.

Please leave personal bashings out of this thread. That comes from immature people.

OK, after reading all this again,I notice people are now using not just Pro Bowl votes, but pro bowl stats, in this argument. Time to put this one to rest for the season, because that is about 1000 steps beyond ridiculous.

Vick is the ultimate hot-button issue in the NFL...meaning no one is going to change their mind, and hypocritical arguments are used on both sides (myself included, on occasion). We'll see what they get in the draft, and what happens in 2006.

I know they could have performed better, but the Falcons' defense is not that bad. Plus, it hurts them alot when they don't have an offense that can put together time-consuming drives, and to get better field position (which relies on the QB position). Its hard to hold a team down to low scores when the offense throws an interception that gets ran back to within the 20, or fumbles in their own territory. Also, when they are tired from coming off the field and forcing a punt, and then after a 1:30 minute drive they have to go back in, it doesn't do anything to give them support.

You need stability and control at the QB position, which Vick has none of.

Ok they have 2 rookie starters and one second year. They had injuries to a probowl DE Brady Smith and not sure if you have seen the secondary, but the only good player was Hall and he got hurt in the game today.

I know alot of you guys are going to start saying that you have to blame vick for part of it and blah blah blah, I have never said once in my posts that Vick is not to blame. You guys are the ones putting the blame solely on Vick, for whatever reason, maybe b/c he is black, the media likes him, etc. I just try to show you guys how that it is not all Vicks fault that they lose, Football is a team game, and if they have been winning with him at the QB I don't see the problem.

This year was a down year, but they played bad games and was part of it Vicks fault yes, all of it, NO.

People find Vick to be incredible because he is the ultimate highlight film...

I don't know about you, but watching a QB lead his team down the field in the 4th quarter, picking apart a defense, gets my blood pumping way more than any QB scrambling around and juking guys out for 20 yards, but then going on to lose the game, ever could. That is what i consider the "ultimate highlight reel". Vick's highlights are useless unless they actually mean something. His run against Minnesota in OT a few years back, and then the one against Carolina last year were awesome runs, but everything besides those that help win games, mean nothing.

Forget it, I guess we are all going to just disagree on this one. I am going to block this thread and I might bring it back up next year, but to say Vick isnt a highlight film is ridiculous. That is like saying Lebron is a highlight film b/c the Cavs didnt make the playoffs last year.
