I ate lunch at my desk today and listend to sports talk radio. The local guys were talking about Vick's release and the last three callers made the following points:
1. Anyone who has ever hunted a deer or caught fish has no right to say anything negative about Vick and he should have his full salary and playing playing rights returned immediately.
2. Arthur Blank owes Vick an apology for sticking him with Greg Knapp and Jim Mora as coaches and not standing behind him when legal troubles came about.
3. The Falcons should bring him into camp and allow him to compete against Matt Ryan for the starting spot. Doing less than this is a slap in the face to black Atlantans.
Ohioans - you have no idea the utter [censored] storm that Vick is to this city. The black community stands behind him a thousand percent, no questions asked. In their mind, he's owed every apology and people should go out of their way to bring him onto their team. His legacy is without tarnish and to suggest otherwise makes you a drooling racist.
But, what about all the money the team lost? Racist.
But, he lied multiple times to the commish and to the owner? Racist
But, he never threw for more than 2700 yards in a season? Not his fault and you're a racist
But, he committed multiple felonies and he represents the team, that's terrible for our franchise? Greedy and Racist.
It's an awful climate down here.

He was. People are just overly emotional because it involved dogs.SayNoToMichigan;1469472; said:I'm black and don't give Mike Vick a pass because of race, and he does get a pass amongst other black people. But that said, I still feel like he was made a bit of a target by the VA court system.
They were never really expected to move forward due to his excessive federal time. He received more than his other two co-defendants and the judge exceeded prosecutors' recommendation and got no benefit from going to jail early and paying nearly a million to care for dogs seized from his property.BigWoof31;1469476; said:Pretty sure that he served Federal time and his state sentence was commuted.
