Michael Vick faces sentencing on federal charges in December.

The grand jury brought two charges against Vick: one count of killing dogs and one of promoting dogfights. In a plea agreement on federal charges, the quarterback has admitted to bankrolling a dogfighting operation from his home in Surry County, Virginia.

I'm watching it now, and it disappoints me to see how ignorant the crowd is.

Someone stood up and posed the question about the misdemeanor/felony status of dogfighting as a crime, and suggested that the crime's severity was changed in order to give Vick a greater punishment. This is a common misconception out there, and when the crowd heard this guy bring up the point... they cheared loudly, as if to suggest that Vick is subject to some grand federal injustice.

The representative from the humane society stood up and pointed out that *transport of dogs for the purpose of fighting* was a misdemeanor under federal law, *dog fighting* is a felony under Virginia law, and *conspiracy* is the federal felony they charged Vick with. There was no "changing the rules" in order to give Vick a stiffer punishment.

The crowd booed wildly, as if to suggest this guy was picking on Vick.

Why are they being ignorant of the charges Vick is actually facing? That's idiotic. It amazes me to see what people actually believe about this whole fiasco.

Federal Charges - Plea Deal

The Falcons Seek to Recoup Significant Portions of Vick's Signing Bonus

Poindexter (grows a pair) Files State Charges Against Vick

Now this - Bank Seeks Full Repayment of $2.5 Million Dollar Loan

RBC seeks repayment of $2.5-million loan secured by former Atlanta quarterback

DAVID NAYLOR
September 26, 2007

Before his legal troubles this past summer, former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick had the richest contract in NFL history.
Yet despite the 10-year, $130-million (U.S.) deal he signed in 2004, Vick still needed a $2.5-million loan from the Royal Bank of Canada.
Now, with Vick's professional life in tatters after pleading guilty to a conspiracy charge related to dogfighting, RBC would like its money back. And it's willing to go to court to get it, suing the former superstar for the $2.3-million it claims it is owed since Vick missed a deadline on Sept. 10.
The Toronto-based bank, which also does business in the U.S. South under its RBC Centura banner, is arguing that Vick's guilty plea on the federal charge and the resulting impact on his career have prevented him from repaying money he borrowed.
Vick borrowed the money in January, with plans to use it for real-estate investments, the bank said in a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Newport News, Va.
In its lawsuit, Royal Bank said the loan's terms specify that any employment change reducing Vick's income constitutes a default on the loan.
Mmm - wonder what kind of real-estate investment he had in mind? That's a lot of doghouses.

Vick Smokes Pre-Trial Piss Test:

A urine sample submitted by Michael Vick to Pretrial Services has tested positive for marijuana, ESPN's Kelly Naqi reported Wednesday.
The test was taken on Sept. 13. Because of the positive test, the federal court probation officer assigned to Vick asked Judge Henry Hudson to place special conditions on Vick's release, which include refraining from use or unlawful possession of a narcotic drug or other controlled substance.

Also, Vick must submit to any method of testing at any time.

If only he had bought the Whizzinator instead of that damned stupid bottle safe.

This is my favorite thread on this board. I love reading the old posts and seeing how many people defended him over hte last 2 years.

:slappy: Never gets old...

There are still plenty defending him now...just not as many (if any) on this board. Guess it's effective at demonstrating that even admitted guilt really doesn't matter to some :shake:
