Mike Vick (Pittsburgh Steelers)

I never liked Vick to begin with, and as an animal lover you can imagine his stock didn't go up much after this incident.

With that said, I think that between the sentence he'll serve, the money he lost, the suspension he'll have, and the overall destruction of any respect or reputation he had is about justice for me. I'm glad he actually said what he did today, even though he didn't have much of a choice, and I think that he's gonna get enough shit about the whole thing to be an even bigger punishment.

And also, i'm watching this falcons game right now, and damn, Roddy White has some shitty hands.

Hehe, as a Chargers fan I am loving it, I heard so much crap up until last year about how we traded our best chance to get to the playoffs for nothing...

well its true isnt it??

i mean you guys made it to the playoff, but still have never won a game. :smash:

The Chargers should have never traded with the falcons so this could have been a Charger issue instead of an issue with my team :mad1:

Heh, we had Leaf, we've already had our nightmare QB. I think it was a great trade, we got Drew Brees and Tomlinson for Vick, if you put those two on the same team in the NFC it would have been deadly. :lift:

Word on the radio says that the Falcons can recoup the 7mill signing bonus they paid him but also have to pay him the 30 mill in performance because of the NFL union agreement. Thats a lot of money for sitting in jail.

NFL notebook: Goodell will meet with Vick; don't let QB return, poll says

Thursday, August 30, 2007 3:26 AM

From wire reports

Disgraced Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick will get a chance to explain himself to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, although no date has been set for a meeting.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed that Goodell expects to meet with Vick "at some point in the future." Aiello would not say whether the meeting would take place before Vick is sentenced Dec. 10, but that would seem likely.

Isn't it somewhat ridiculous they'll euthanize the dogs that would have fought to the death? Isn't that like handing out a speeding ticket at the Indy 500?
No. It's like putting an Indy car on a highway and expecting it to stay under the speed limit. These dogs are trained killers. I don't think that having them adopted by a loving family is going to be a good thing.

Vick's dogfighting was an open secret

By ALAN JUDD
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 09/05/07 Michael Vick's name kept popping up in the unlikeliest places.
In a South Carolina police detective's talks with a confidential informant. On an animal protection group's anonymous tip line. Around the edges of a murder case in Texas.
Vick's deep engagement in dogfighting was widely rumored in certain circles long before the guilty plea last week that will send him to prison and may end his professional football career.
But no one, apparently, shared those rumors with Vick's employer, the Atlanta Falcons, according to interviews with animal advocates and law enforcement officials in several states.

Whoopi really might wanna rethink her "well they've done it in the deep south for years so it's cool" position. Uhh, they used to hang black people in the deep south too. What are your feelings on that, Whoopi? Is that cool too? Jesus, is there anything left on earth where everyone will say, wow, yeah, that's wrong. Does everyone have to argue everything. Or is life just some Japanese game show where we're all standing on logs over a river and smacking each with big foam bats all the dame time. This guy's an animal. Fuck him.
(by the way, Mike Vick is from Newport News, Virgina, which is about about 2 hours from Washington DC. since when is that considered the "deep south"?)
