Mike Leach (HC Mississippi State, a National Treasure, R.I.P.)

Daddy's Little Girl: Adam James and The Mike Leach Firing. | Bleacher Report

Hits it out of the park. Great article.

My Coach wasn't my "buddy." I remember one time he walked up and stood on my stomach while we were doing leg lifts because I had dogged in on some wind sprints earlier in the day, saying "You gonna puss out and quit the leg lifts like you pussed out doing sprints??? Are you, 'causeI hear a Cheerleader position is open, but you won't play safety for me!"

Last time I dogged it in sprints.

Has anyone provided any tangible consequences from hanging out in a dark room for a few hours? Sure it's not very cozy, but is this threatening for someone with a mild concussion?

Is there something in danger here besides this kid's ego?

I filter out all that playing time stuff... and the slacker stuff... I'm just not convinced it's germane to the real issue...
When a player acts like a spoiled and insolent brat for his entire tenure at Texas Tech, and his dad is a manipulative menace demanding promises for his son... it seems like a very relevant issue when those two make a scene about punishment.

The rebel refused to do as he was told throughout his career. That's very relevant to the punishment handed out.

Just to provide more context to my last post:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5Q_5nYwWLU&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - The Truth Behind The Leach Accusations[/ame]

I don't think this was a productive thing for Leach to do, but his accusers are acting as though he sequestered the kid in a 1.5 sq ft box in the hot, hot Texas sun while fire ants stung him. I fail to see how any of this merits TT's response or the sandy-vag'd whining from the James family.

I'm not sure what harm, let alone lethal harm, could befall someone standing in a darkened room or equipment shed, even with a mild concussion. I do hear what you are saying as a parent. On the other hand, if I were a media talking head I would try very hard to not take advantage of my position to obtain favorable treatment for my kids. I think the parents and admin handled this poorly. Leach merely made the mistake of getting tough with a prima donna and his prima donna father.

edit: Too slow. Dang, who is this jwins character?

Bingo. I am amazed at how much this has all been blown out of proportion. What is going on in Lubbock?

Well, I did see it first on a highly reliable news program: Jon Stewart's Daily Show.

In light of this, that Coach-In-Waiting gig for the 'Gators is looking pretty sweet. Can you imagine being the coach to step into Leach's shoes...the first time James Jr. needs to be disciplined? If he was a pain in the coaching staff's posterior before, now he's gonna be insufferable.

Just musing: what position does he play? Anything that depends on protection by your line? If so, we might find out how his teammates feel about him soon enough.

My thoughts exactly. First, this is not over. Second, James needs to watch out for friendly fire.

A couple hours in a dark room for getting a concussion? Luxury! My parents locked me in a dark room for an entire week just for getting the measles.

I hate it when my wife makes me go to the closet and hang out for hours with all the creepy crawly things, and spiders and the boogeyman and all that stuff.
