I do have question for Mrs. Reid though, because I'm confused by this quote

"She mentioned how a college kid would rather run through the campus naked than to be coddled by their mother and I'm like no, no that's horrible," Reid said. "It's very malicious to do that and you don't know anything about my son."

Huh? If I'm not mistaken, she's saying, "No. No. You don't know anything about my son. He LOVES to run through campus naked and actually hates his mother!"



Anywho ... sounds like the Reids are going to sue the DailyOK.

Journalists have come to the support of Carlson, because journalists stick together. They're much like Buckeye fans in that regard. (Although since most internet polls suggest that about 90% of the public supports Gundy in this conflict, the journalists seem to be even more clueless in their support than we tend to be.)

I didn't see it mentioned, but Mike Golic and Skip Clueless had a debate on E$PN last night concerning this issue.

Predictably, Skip took up for Carlson without giving anything more than hyperbole and whining about her being female and a victim.

It's pretty bad that I sided with Golic before Golic even said anything, simply because of the shrillness and stupidity of Clueless' argument.

Jenni Carlson, the target of Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy's now-infamous postgame tirade, is a talented, dedicated sports columnist.

I've stated that opinion privately and publicly for years. I've known Jenni, now a columnist at The Oklahoman, since she was a student at Kansas and later when she was a high school columnist for this newspaper.

The column she wrote about Oklahoma State quarterback Bobby Reid, the column that caused Gundy to melt down following the Cowboys' victory over Texas Tech, is absolutely indefensible. Gundy called it "garbage," and I can't disagree.

Not that I am a male chauvinist but I would rather not have women reporting or writing my sports. It has something to do with man law.

Nice column by Whitlock. And I can't say I'm surprised that he'd be the one to break step with his cohorts. Whitlock's always liked to be a bit of a maverick. Often that means saying something a bit nutty when the rest of the media is being safe.....here it means not having the knee-jerk reaction of trying to protect a fellow writer.

That's an ugly unsubstantiated internet rumor, just one of the many back(side) stories that Carlson's critics are weighing in with. Have they no shame, have they ever seen her lean back on her bed to squeeze her comely thighs into a pair of Jordache jeans? Of course not. Yet, this is what passes for sports journalism by self-proclaimed experts on writers obesity.
