Microsoft E3 Announcements

Microsoft acknowledges upcoming "Avatar Store" where you can spend your hard earned real money on clothes and other crap for your avatar.

Who didn't see this coming? :tongue2:

Microsoft planning 'Avatar Store' for next spring - VideoGamer.com

Where you'll be able to buy branded items for your Avatar.

Microsoft is planning to launch an 'Avatar Store' next spring, which will allow gamers to buy branded items for their Avatars, a new feature coming with the release of the New Xbox Experience update on November 19.

Gamers will be able to buy game related items from publishers, like T-shirts, as well as non-game related items, perhaps related to football, Microsoft has revealed.

Robin Burrowes, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) product manager for Xbox LIVE, told VideoGamer.com at a recent hands-on preview event for NXE that it believes the potential is there for fashion brands to launch new clothing ranges through the store, and that gamers will be able to dress their Avatar like a character from a game.

I've got a 20 Gb harddrive and was barely able to save 2 games to run from disk (Oblivion and NCAA). Each one takes up 6.7Gb of space. I guess I was hoping the games wouldn't take up more than 4-5Gb each.
brilliant business move by MS, provide an excellent upgrade that leads to skyrocketing interest/sales in hard drive upgrades (esp with the 60 gig option).

Is the xbox like the ps3 in that you can upgrade the HDD at anytime by putting your own in?
No. You can do it with a hack and a WD Scorpio 120Gb model that somebody wrote some firmware for, but it'll void the warranty, and you'd still have to come up with the enclosure for it.

The NXE install game to HD feature just came through big time. My copy of NCAA FB 09 ate it a few days ago, and Best Buy won't exchange it. I rented a copy for $3, installed that to the HD, and now play with my scratched disc in the tray (unreadable but works enough to know what's in there).

The TV shows on Netflix are a better value than the movies, which are a bit limited by Sony's squabbling.

Jwins since my disc is ALWAYS giving me the unreadable message does the install to HD feature basically eliminate that? If so that would be clutch
It's supposed to. What I've read from people that are using it is that it resolves any disc unreadable messages.
