Michigan State Spartans (official thread)

Someone's been digging through teenage boys' social media accounts? I've got a theory......

Fair enough, but 6 years in in Oxford and he has one winning season (8-6) which was this last year. Total rebuild or not, it's the MAC. A 30-45 record, and six years to achieve a winning record, regardless of FCS success, is not a ringing endorsement.

Well, Les Miles would definitely take their call, but I'm not sure much else is available for them at this point.

Sparty's just getting started with the spartying. Apparently, Fickell taking a couple of days to decide on a multi-million dollar job and then giving a firm, polite "no thank you." is wrong. Prying into his son's snapchat though is just A-fucking-OK.

That's an awful lot of unsavory probing for, "yeah, he was thinking about it, which is why he took some time to decide, then "nah"" -- I mean, there's not even really a revelation here. At all.

Who is Sparty going to get this late? Nobody. Who wants to come to MSU with uncertainty clouding over East Lansing? Nobody. Their best bet is to not fuck this up by hiring whoever will take the job and then having to buy him out next year for a coach they want. Robert Saleh is still sitting out there and next year, maybe he changes his mind. He returned to SF for unfinished business, not because he didn’t want the Sparty job. Or maybe he used “unfinished business” to let Sparty down gently. It’s worth the gamble to just give an interim tag and figure the long term coach out next year. Hell, that’s not even a gamble. It’s just what they should do. I wouldn’t be worried too much about a bad recruiting class as a result. Things could get much worse for them with a shitty coaching hire and their recruiting classes are low-key fucked either way.
