Michigan ineligible player in PSU game

He was a player that had very little if any impact on the outcome of the game. It sucks that PSU will get a win that they didn't earn.

As far as TSUN getting a loss, you can thank your own athletic dept for that. You have a compliance staff whose job is to make sure you are following the rules.

At any level of competition, you would forfeit a game if you played an ineligible player period....regardless of their level of involvement in the game.

Who's to say how much of an impact was involved? In this case, we could say that he was little or no impact. In the other extreme, it could have been the guy who intercepted a pass, securing a win. Where is the line drawn? If you make it a black & white issue, there's no room for debate, and it's fair. If you start to figure it how much a player was involved, it becomes very gray. People will start to compare this judgement in this case with that judgement in that case, and it won't be fair. He played illegally. Live with the judgement.

Who gives a bottle of white-out what Penn State fans think? If they think that they get what they deserve, if they get a win, then they deserve to be Penn State fans.

This could set up a really unusual situation in which the B11 regards the PSU game as a Michigan loss, while the NCAA regards it as a Michigan win. My understanding is that the player's ineligibility is a conference issue rather than an NCAA issue. Could be a confusing situation, record-wise.

The NCAA would likely also recognize the forfeit if the Big Ten does indeed make Michigan forfeit the game.
