Michigan 14, Penn State 9 (final)

True, but I still think they lose to Illinois, MSU, UW, and tOSU. I think Indiana could give them a game too but luckily, they're not on the schedule this year.
MSU might be unbeaten but they haven't really impressed me yet. They need a good showing against Wisconsin next week to do that. One nice thing about MSU is they really do find every way to lose. Illinois, though, has a running quarterback.....the silver bullet against Michigan.

Yes, but John L. isn't coaching anymore, it is MSU's game of the year, and it's at home.

Don't chalk that one up just yet. Remember, they're led by the Zooker - perhaps one of the worst game-day coaches in major college football. Seeing as how even my grandma knows that scUM is vulnerable against spread offenses with mobile QBs, you can be relatively certain that the Zooker will pick that week to unveil his new Power I attack, or something stupid like that.

Good point, jlb. English may offset Zook's incompetence tho.

Doesn't this pic pretty much summarize Morelli's career?

44 carries today for Mike Hart. I can't imagine any NFL team wanting him with his mileage. He's gonna be used up like a Saigon whore by the time LLLLLoyd is done with him.

Is it Lloyd's job to win games, or to get his players to become NFL successes?

Well that will depend on how he goes through the season, if he can run like that with energy every week then i could see a lot of teams interested. Teams like the Ravens and the Titans live by taking the lead and controlling the clock, if you have a back that is just a work-horse it's ideal for that.

I'm not "blaming" LLLLLoyd Carr. He *should* keep feeding him the ball - especially considering the "stable" of backs they have up there behind Hart. It just shows how dumb Hart was to not leave for the NFL. If he's gonna get run into the ground he may as well collect a check. That's especially true considering how weak this year's draft was at RB, and how much stronger next year's draft projects to be at the position. If you're an NFL GM, why pick a guy like Hart who has four years of all those carries when you can pick somebody like one of the backs at Clemson or Arkansas who have logged less mileage?

RBs are proving to be a finite commodity in the sense that they only have so many carries in them before they break down. This should especially be a concern for a player with an injury history like Mike Hart. I wouldn't be surprised if Hart doesn't last long enough in the League to become eligible for a pension.

Yeah but a running back like Mike Hart only has so many carries in him for a career.

He doesn't make a lot of people miss (like Barry Sanders for example)....

All those hits will take their toll...

At least he'll have that "General Studies" degree to fall back on.

After today's game, Mike Hart has 127 carries on the year. Project that out to a 12-game regular season at M*ch*g*n - he's on pace for 381 carries for the year.

Project that over a 16-game NFL regular season - he'd be on pace for 508 carries. Larry Johnson set the NFL record last year with 416 carries, and people are growing concerned about his durability because of it. NFL GMs should have the same concerns about Hart with his workload.

Every carry Hart gets this year is one less he'll get to make for a team that pays him to do it.
