My understanding is that this is the "Eric Crouch Rule." Crouch accepted a ham sandwich while on a campaign trip for a friend. Total cost was negligible, but there were concerns of "improper benefits," so it had to be declared. The NCAA threw a conniption about it, and ultimately ended up not sanctioning Nebraska/Crouch. The "occasional meal" rule was the result of that sandwich.

I know Nebbie women ain't exactly all that and a bag of pork rinds but 'ham sandwich'?

Damn man, that's just cold.

LOL - as funny as it sounds, he's 100% accurate on the 'ham sandwich':

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/college/news/2000/05/24/crouch_sandwich_ap/

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- A ham sandwich and a cheap plane ride may have gotten Nebraska quarterback Eric Crouch in trouble with the NCAA, the Omaha World-Herald reported.

Crouch made a campaign appearance earlier this month for Jay Matzke, who is an NU Board of Regents candidate and Crouch's friend.

Crouch appeared with Matzke on May 6, and accepted a plane ride through central Nebraska, worth $13.41. The plane traveled to Seward, Beatrice, Hastings and York.

He also ate a ham sandwich, valued at $4, at the home of one of Matzke's friends in Hastings.

Besides, he didn't say 'ham sammich'....he said 'ham sandwich'...

CNBC is airing an episode of their American Greed series right now about Nevin Shapiro...

Watched it Wednesday. It's really more on him and not really a ton on Miami.

Again, looking at the evidence and certain photos, you wonder how Donna Shalala is still president.

Then again, Gene Smith is still AD at TOSU.

?The public is going to hate me worse in the next coming months. It?s going to be severe and catastrophic. My feelings are getting inflamed and I?m going to pop off pretty soon with regards to them and the NCAA. I?m coming for them both [UM and former players] and I?m going to be successful.

?I?m taking that program down to Chinatown and the former players and links to that program. Why? Because the U.S. government lined up 47 former players to testify against me in open court if I went to trial. That in itself is motivation to shove it up their collective [butts].?
