Miami fans literally use that retort against every fan base not in Miami l, Chicago or LA. That's pretty much it. I've had Miami fans tell me that Columbus is a cow town to them, they also told me the same about Austin, TXThat universal retort is like a broken clock; it’s right every once in awhile... Like when it’s leveled at FSU fan
I think what makes LA different as well, is that it's such a major commuter city! Most of the city is people who moved there from other places. And they don't have loyalty to LA local sports, especially so when they're not winning. Hence why they need to bring in big names in their professional sports. College doesn't have that luxury, and a family from say Cleveland, Charlotte, or Topeka isn't going to want to see an average UCLA or USC with some kids they're not familiar with. And the average fan doesn't follow recruiting to the same extent many of us on the board do(I've found that out on several occasions with friends/acquaintances who are OSU fans. But have absolutely no clue who the new starters are, or the new hot shot frosh is)THIS
I live in socal now; this is my 3rd stint here in the last 3 decades. I’ve been to the beach when UCLA was playing in front of an empty stadium and had the place nearly to myself. I’ve been hiking in the mountains when USC was playing in front of an empty stadium and shared those spectacular views with nothing but mountain lions.
Is there a lot to do in socal? Yes
What are most denizens of socal doing when their local FBS team is playing? Watching Real Housewives of OC
People in SoCal aren’t bad sports fans, they just aren’t sports fans
What few there are generally follow futbol
