Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

Can anyone give me a quick update: are they back?

So the recruits on a visit to your school are openly cheering for your rival

Ruiz dropped bags for their commitments but I wonder if they are collecting the dough and then dipping before ESD.

You’d think a lawyer like ruiz would have an agreement set up to prevent that, but since it’s technically illegal, is there any legal binding agreement they can make? Someone who knows contract law please chime in because I have no clue.

I could also see these kids doing a year there and then going to the portal as millionaires (if they’re truly getting that much, which, based on how bad Miami is now, is believable).

I love how the universal retort for Miami fans is “there’s nothing to do in your town and you’re podunk, that’s why your stadium is full. There’s soooo much more to do in Miami that’s why we don’t have many fans here”
That universal retort is like a broken clock; it’s right every once in awhile... Like when it’s leveled at FSU fan

Pac 12 (particularly the LA teams) use that way too much too.

I love when the California crowd talks about that like other places don’t have great restaurants or hiking too. They should just own it and say they don’t care for football much.

THIS

I live in socal now; this is my 3rd stint here in the last 3 decades. I’ve been to the beach when UCLA was playing in front of an empty stadium and had the place nearly to myself. I’ve been hiking in the mountains when USC was playing in front of an empty stadium and shared those spectacular views with nothing but mountain lions.

Is there a lot to do in socal? Yes
What are most denizens of socal doing when their local FBS team is playing? Watching Real Housewives of OC

People in SoCal aren’t bad sports fans, they just aren’t sports fans

What few there are generally follow futbol

Exactly!

SoCal (and California as a whole) is a pretty cool place with plenty to do, but that excuse that west coast fans trot out is complete b.s.

EDIT: The Dodgers have some pretty serious fans too, particularly the LA Latinos. I’ve been to Dodgers stadium a handful of times and interacted with them. They are knowledgeable and loyal from what I’ve seen.

They’re front-runners.

Coliseum was full when USC was in their prime.

true

i expect a lot of those people drove a long way to be there though

lots of colleges have lots of alumni who only go to games when the team is good

usc is one of them

But there is a lot of space on the continuum between USC on one end and Nebraska fans on the other
