Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

Miami has the solution…..gonna get a bigger Turnover Chain!

It’s funny Miami fans were all beating their chest about how Cristobal means business because he did away with their Chain this summer.

2 embarrassing losses later and they realize that the only thing that’s changed is they’ll get slightly more preseason hype with Cristobal than they did with Manny.

Honestly, and I know it’s too early to pass serious judgment on Cristobal at Miami compared to what he replaced, but it seems that the Canes showed a bit more fight down the stretch of the Diaz era than they have so far under Mario. Not that they were all that great under Diaz but they look even softer now.

While I never want to see Miami truly back to their 80s glory, I would like to at least see them relevant and competitive. Unlike Texas, I think Miami being relevant is good for college football. They are the ultimate heel program, and they make the sport fun even if you're just there to root against them. Texas, on the other hand, doesn't make anything fun or spiced up when they're "back." They're a soulless boring program whose only character is based on a bunch of boosters trying to swing their big dicks.

I agree about Miami over Texas, but the possible re-emergence of USC is enough heel programs to root against for me.

Miami and Texas can both rot.

Right there with you! I have no desire to see Miami and their obnoxious front running fans win on a big stage again. I can only stomach one team in warm weather in a major city, and I'd rather have USC. Front running, but not nearly as obnoxious and entitled. And don't seem to hold on to the past glory at the same strength as Tejas and Cryami

I’d like to remind people that Oregon under Cristobal generally sucked, even the year they left Columbus with a W. The name might get you a little more preseason hype but there in nothing in game to suggest he’s a top tier, or 2nd or 3rd tier for that matter, coach.

You're just a bitter OSU fan 8D
But seriously, he earned the Miami gig off of the OSU win! As did Gattis. Both are average-good coaches, but nothing that says their going to make Miami anymore that what they've been since OSU ended their dynasty in the desert

Hell. Fucking. No.

Those fans don't deserve anything nice.

Plus, unless one spends a ton of time on the West coast, the Trojan hype train is easy to ignore.

I have a friend who lives in California who constantly complains about the USC hype and I’m just like

I live in SoCal; I’m unaware of Trojan hype. Most people here care zero for football and less for the college variant. There is no mention of them on local news most days.

Yep. No one gives a flying shit about USC unless they are clearly one of the national title favorites. Even then most of the time it's only moderate care.

Even with all of the "excitement" surrounding Lincoln Riley the response so far is still "meh". No one will really care until he actually puts them in the playoffs.

I was in La and SD this summer and didn’t notice any discussion about the Trojans.

Maybe I just need to tell my friend to stop going on Fight On 247 or whatever Usc fan site exists these days because he’s always complaining about how tired he is of hearing about USC

So, serious question, how does that translate to NIL? I thought that one of the benefits for them (in LALA-land) was the exposure and NIL gravy train. If nobody cares, it’s kinda hard to justify Name, Image and Likeness funds for names, images and likenesses that nobody knows isn’t it?

Either way, USC can DIAF with Miami.

Yeah, I heard the minute that NIL became a thing, that USC would benefit the most from being in major media markets. My argument was always, those 2 cities could care less for CFB when they had NFL teams, NBA, MLB and NHL teams. And also are the home to tons of entertainment stars, a CFB player who starts for USC or Miami is not getting followed in the same way Shaq, Mike Trout, Lebron, Tua, or Jimmy Butler will.
