Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

A strong Miami program is good for college football.

1. It drains UF of potential players and we don't play Miami
2. College football needs "bad guys" and the game was more interesting when the high fiving-shit talking "U" was stomping people.

Looking to play ND at Soldier Field in 2012. I'm imagining that they'll try to play down the 'Catholics vs Convicts' angle.

They haven't played since 1990.

Notre Dame, Miami close to finishing deal to resume rivalry

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- A person familiar with the negotiations tells the Associated Press that Notre Dame and Miami are close to a deal for a three-game series, starting with a game at Soldier Field in 2012 and continuing with a home-and-home likely in 2014 and 2016.

The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because no deal has been signed, tells the AP that talks have gone on for several weeks and both schools hope the deal can be completed soon.

Cont'd ...

Good for them. But just keeping them eligible and enrolled (which is all the APR measures) doesn't mean they're all a bunch of Rhodes Scholars, or that their football players are on a par with the Ivy Leaguers, which is what the article is trying to imply.

If they had a few 1st-rounders that left school early, their APR would drop somewhat.

Well..........that's no fun!:(

I was just a small kid when they played. After watching them play each other on ESPN classic in some the games in the 80s......I can truly say one thing. They flat out hated each other. Always fun to watch.
