Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

And two questions for the gator fan. Miami offered Florida a home and away series before last season. Why did you guys decline? And is your fan base the only thing you can brag about when it comes to Miami?

1) We don't need to. We'd rather you stay put in the ACC - without a campus stadium - while your athletic infrastructure get even more outdated in this day of tight money - and we continue our current place on the top of the NCAA with the rest of the elite teams. Not you guys anymore B3. So why help you back by playing you?

2) The only thing Miami can brag now about are your old MNC trophies, and for one of them we beat you soundly that year. So you have your string of old championships to brag on and that is about it. Have fun in the nobody gives a shot about you football conference.

Actually we can brag about the fact that the so called mighty gators still fear playing Miami. And our facilities just got updated a few years ago thanks to 3 million donated from Edgerrin James. Last i checked we play in an NFL stadium that just hosted the pro bowl and has hosted a few super bowls to.

Good luck playing in the weak sec east division and your 3 or 4 ranked opponents on your schedule.

As I said, playing you helps you, not us. Far better to make more money sitting at home than to go to your dump in a home and home.

NFL stadium??? This puts you near last on the list of favorite college football venues. If the Swamp, The Shoe and Tiger Stadium are at one end of the spectrum, your stadium is at the other. Enjoy your Tulane status. Even the Smurf Turf is a better college venue than yours. And they have better attendance in the wind and snow than you do with a conference opponent at home. Nobody, but nobody thinks your share cropping at a Dolphin facility is awesome but you.

Thanks. You change that .167 BCS Bowl win average and I might look up which ACC teams are in which division some day. It hasn't mattered much up till now to most of the football world - they've been focused on the BCS Championship teams.

Oh that's right you got to schedule all those home games for bail bonds and legal fees. Oh lets not forget keeping the refs on payroll (see Arkansas game last year). We don't need you guys either just look at our schedule. We play more ranked teams in the month of september then you guys play all year.

College Football: Jacory Harris on ACC title, expectations, his thumb and Randy Shannon - ESPN

I had a chance to visit with Miami QB Jacory Harris at last week's EA Sports Elite 11 QB Camp, which I blogged from here.

Harris is one of the more intriguing QBs in college football this year: He has some thumb issues, has a huge game within the first two weeks of the season against Ohio State and has grown a great deal as a leader during his time at Miami.

I also spoke with Michigan State QB Kirk Cousins at Elite 11; I'll be offering up that interview next week.

Before we get to the Harris interview, here's the Miami Blue Ribbon preview, to familiarize yourself with expectations, and here's a video feature on Harris from "College GameDay" last September.

At what point did your thumb become 100 percent?
I'd say probably about midway through June.

You had said it got a little sore after throwing (the second day of the camp); did that make you nervous?
Nah, because we're throwing a lot of balls here, and it's back-to-back days of a lot of throwing. Before, I'd been throwing a couple of times a week. It's going to keep getting stronger.

Being at the Elite 11 QB camp now as opposed to when you were a high school senior, how are you different since then?
I was 170 [pounds]. I'm 195. Back then, the wind could blow me down. I look at these younger high school quarterbacks and I'm bigger than almost all of them. It's amazing, because I don't see myself as a big quarterback. It shows the growth.

"Was the team overconfident against Wisconsin, especially after scoring so quickly to start the bowl game?
Well, we didn't execute. We didn't do the things that we needed to do to win. We waited until the last minute of the game to start cranking everything up. We drove down the field easily when we got into our two-minute offense."

:slappy: Wisconsin dominated Miami in that game. It wasn't as close as the score indicated. So, no, overconfidece is not what did it.

The only reason i can think of why Miami signed up with Toledo is to get interest from recruits in the state of Ohio. We'd love to recruit more players like Latwan Anderson. It is dissapointing as a canes fan to see us not sell out our stadium. Miami still has a huge fan base. But Miami is the biggest bandwagon city there is. For example look at the Miami Heat. Two years ago when the Heat won 15 games you could here a pin drop in that arena. Now all of a sudden with James, Bosh, and Wade on board season tickets already sold out.

And two questions for the gator fan. Miami offered Florida a home and away series before last season. Why did you guys decline? And is your fan base the only thing you can brag about when it comes to Miami?
