Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

Miami Hurricanes schedule home-and-home with MAC's Toledo Rockets - ESPN
Miami (Fla.) schedules game at Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio -- The Miami Hurricanes will play at Toledo in 2015 in what's sure to be the highest-profile home football game in the Ohio school's history.

The Hurricanes will travel to the Mid-American Conference school on Sept. 5, 2015, and then host the Rockets the following season.

Toledo announced Monday that it had finalized the agreement.

The Rockets play at the Glass Bowl, which has a capacity of 26,000 but can hold another 10,000 with extra temporary seating.

Toledo has brought in a number of big opponents in recent seasons, including Colorado, Purdue, Pittsburgh and Syracuse.

This year the Rockets open at home against Arizona.

I do miss playing Notre Dame. But as a canes fan i have more respect for the Irish then i do for the florida gators.

If Wandy was my coach, I'd go around other message boards drunk on mescal talking nonsense myself.

My Uncle was a UM grad - but as he was a wounded veteran who served with the Devil's Brigade, I always assumed that was due to an undiagnosed head injury. :p

A lot of similarities between the two:

  • Both are known for running clean programs.
  • Both have dropped a pair of games to our beloved Buckeyes.
  • Neither has a shot at a national championship in the next decade.

I can't see why they shouldn't play!

  • They both won during their last visit to TSUN

Added one for you.

On the surface it doesn't make much sense just looking at the two programs, but financially it's not much different than playing the game at home. Since Miami doesn't draw dick at home anyway and Toledo's going to sell this game out the attendence will probably only be slightly less than had the game been in Miami. Whereas an Ohio State would never do this because the difference in attendence and revenue would be far greater by playing a game at a mac school.

The only reason i can think of why Miami signed up with Toledo is to get interest from recruits in the state of Ohio. We'd love to recruit more players like Latwan Anderson. It is dissapointing as a canes fan to see us not sell out our stadium. Miami still has a huge fan base. But Miami is the biggest bandwagon city there is. For example look at the Miami Heat. Two years ago when the Heat won 15 games you could here a pin drop in that arena. Now all of a sudden with James, Bosh, and Wade on board season tickets already sold out.

And two questions for the gator fan. Miami offered Florida a home and away series before last season. Why did you guys decline? And is your fan base the only thing you can brag about when it comes to Miami?
