In the latest football APR rankings (not the same as gradutation rate, but it's how the NCAA tracks academic progress), Miami is tied for 6th at 978. Congrats.

tOSU is tied for 9th at 975. So that doesn't seem to be a topic for either fanbase to talk smack about.

Don't know how those rankings work but does it count against you when guys leave the program early for pro careers?

If so, I would consider 9th about as high as a school like Ohio State could get. Miami would also likely drop if they continue their improvement and the quality of their players prompts more to leave early.

Does anyone remember the derogatory comment Randy Shannon made about tOSU a couple of years ago? I swear it was posted in a thread on BP, could be wrong though.

Hence the reason why I view Randy through similar eyes to Ubet. Randy's a criticsim deflecting piece of shit.

edit: I couldn't find a link; however, I remember that this information came out sometime around the SI article in 2007 where Randy "misspoke" about some criminal situations around him. Take it FWIW.

Q: But obviously though there?s kids that live off campus. But what do you tell parents about that?
A: We show them the neighborhoods. Everybody else in the country lives off campus and they still have the same problems. But their newspaper don?t beat them up about it. Like our newspaper beats us up about it. I know you guys are doing your job, you got to beat us up about it. But then understand we just want a fair shot. At Ohio State, do you realize you had more things happen at Ohio State more than anything. You think we?ve been bad? Go check out Ohio State, guys who have been arrested, bar fights. Everything at Ohio State and you?d think University of Miami was angels. Florida the same?

I realize some of our readers have sent emails regarding a portion of this interview that was deleted this morning by my editors. Personally, I do not practice the habit of going back and taking back anything that was said in a Q&A. But coach Shannon's comments about former Florida Gator Walter Odom being shot and killed on campus at the University of Florida were incorrect. He also made several comments about crime at other schools, including Ohio State. Since, he was generalizing and not necessarily being accurate with his quote, The Herald has decided to take that portion of the interview down too. We pride ourselves on being an accurate and reliable source for news and insight. And we're not going to publish false or unsubstantiated statements. We apologize for not making the necessary changes sooner. There will be a correction.

So other than all of the bald face lies Randy tells, he is a good guy. :shake:

(Walter Odom was ill for a long time, and finally passed away some 15 years after leaving G-ville. So other than the shooting versus prolonged illness.....and the killed "on-campus" versus dying in Tampa 15 years after leaving Gainesville, his comments were spot on. BTW, Shannon called Odom "his best friend". )

didn't Clarett just get out of prison?...we haven't been Thug U in about 20 years...and you call us cry babies for whining about the fiesta bowl?..the U under Shanon is now No 3 in all D1 for graduation rate in football programs!!! OSU in not in the top 40....

Oh yeah, how about your punk-assed players printing up "Back-2-back party" flyers and distributing them several days before the game?

We call you cry babies for whining about the Fiesta Bowl because you still fucking whine about it even though we've shown clear proof that the PI call was valid.

As for football academics, Ohio State has had the most all-academic players in the Big Ten the last five years (might even be six).

This game will be decided where all games are decided...in the trenches!!..I don't think you will be able to run wide... but am concerned up your inside running against us...I think will we get pressure from the outside in the passing game.. but not sure how disiplined we will be to stay in our lanes so Pryor doesn't kill us with his feet...I do think our secondary matches up well with your wr's...

Whipple is a good OC so to counter pressure against Harris i expect us to move the pocket as well as a quick passing game... watch for no-huddle used very extensively...honestly don't see us doing much on the ground against you...

ST could be an advantage for us as well... think the game is to close to call... but I gotta go 24-23 Canes!!!

Welcome to BP.

If your concern is us running up the gut, you're going to be biting your nails all night. Running up the gut is what we do best. Can we run wide? Sure. I think we have the speed on our blockers to make the holes necessary (I wouldn't expect much from the end around play front) But our bread and butter is making a mack truck sized hole right in the center and running north to south.
