Miami Dolphins (Official Thread)

Hopefully it helps. Tua can't throw it over 10 yards at the moment. When the oldest dude in the league is the best option with a game on the line, you need to definitely make some things happen.

I'd actually be all for the Dolphins trading Tua and picks back to Houston for DeShaun Watson!

Miami Dolphins waive newly acquired OT Isaiah Wilson

The Miami Dolphins waived 2020 first-round offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson on Saturday, just days after acquiring him in a trade with the Tennessee Titans.

Wilson was hours late for his physical and team onboarding process, skipped multiple optional workouts that he agreed to attend on Thursday and Friday and declined support service help that he was offered, all in his first official week with the team, sources said.

Miami was aiming to take a low-risk flier on Wilson, who was acquired with a 2022 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2021 seventh-round pick on a deal that was agreed to on March 8, but finalized earlier this week. His guarantees were voided due to his suspension with the Titans, so he's owed no money, and the loss to Miami is receiving a seventh-round pick one year later.

Coach Brian Flores has known Wilson, a Brooklyn native who went to the same high school, for years. The team hoped that connection plus others on the team would help give Wilson a second chance to reach his on-field potential and manage his off-the-field troubles after a disastrous year in Tennessee. But just days into his time in Miami, Wilson continued to show what a source called a "concerning track record" that made it clear to the team it was time to move on.

Wilson also posted social media videos of him Friday dancing shirtless on top of a car and smoking a vape, the same day he agreed to do a workout. By then, the Dolphins had already decided to move on as Wilson was not receptive of their plans to help him.

Tennessee signed Wilson, the 29th selection in last April's NFL draft, to a four-year, $11.6 million contract in August. He was considered a top-50 prospect by many draft analysts, and a potential long-term starting right tackle. But Wilson's time with the Titans didn't get off to a good start, prompting the team to move on from him less than a year later.

Looks like he’d be a good partner for Haskins.

Huge trade for the Fins, but perhaps a bad trade for Miami. No chance Tua pans out if he doesn't throw farther downfield more regularly. Teams were sitting on short and intermediate throws and daring him to go deep. But if Tua can figure it out & they use their 1sts wisely, they could win the SB in a few years.

Wasn't Tua just a rookie last year? I'd say give the guy some time.
But there's no way the Dolphins are in the SB in a few years: Bills, Chiefs, Ravens, Titans, Browns are all in better spots than Miami. And I'd say the Pats are 2nd in the AFC east.

Well the Fins just traded back to get the #6 pick, so not as distant future-centered as they were before but still a load of good picks coming soon. None of those other teams have the draft assets of Miami with a QB who will be on his first contract in 2023-24. I think 2023 and 2024 should be the high tide years for Miami. The Fins should be monsters in those years, but if Tua can't cut it, they'll squander their high draft pick surplus.

Superficially looks great
BUT
without a LT QB solution they could be screwed
multiple analysts say TUA panics under pressure
and one could make the case SF pick next yr ain't gonna get you a QB

Maybe they plan to go after Darnold (or Garafalo) with pkg of 2nd/3rds of 2021/2022 picks...

Tua's gonna hold back the Dolphins single-handedly.

Make that 4 INTs for Tua — this one to Nate Holley in 11-on-11. Jacoby Brissett also threw one.

It got worse:

With 'some plays that didn't go our way,' Tua Tagovailoa opens Miami Dolphins minicamp with five interceptions and film to study

Tua Tagovailoa brushed off a very rough Day 1 of Miami Dolphins minicamp -- one that included five interceptions -- as a product of emphasizing more aggression in the passing game.

It was the closest thing to real football for the Dolphins, who wore helmets for the first time this offseason, and offered small glimpses of what a new offense would look like for Miami. But the lasting memory was the defense's dominance against the quarterbacks; in addition to Tagovailoa's five, backup Jacoby Brissett threw two interceptions in fewer reps.

Just sayin': Maybe Miami should have kept the #3 pick and selected a QB......

They've got the Defense and the WR room is deep and very talented. So is the TE room. They need great play from the Oline and Tua to be able to throw more than 5 yards down the field accurately. If that happens and a star is born on the Dline from the youngsters, they're in serious business in South Beach.

JB has the Defense swarming and he's looking like an All Pro in the making.
