In general, I say "Merry Christmas." I probably would go with "Happy Holidays" if I were speaking to someone whom I knew was of another religion.
Honestly, it isn't worth getting upset over this garbage. People that are upset over the use of "Merry Christmas" can kiss my ass. People who are upset over the use of "Happy Holidays" can suck my balls. Or vice versa. Doesn't really matter to me. :)

I'm assuming your wife doesn't care for the "Happy Holidays" saying then huh?

Just to confuse matters even worse, I offer two more perspectives:

1. My in-laws are Christian, but celebrate Chanuka instead of Christmas.

2. This from the Jews Against Anti-Christian Defamation:

JACKIE MASON WILL SAY "MERRY CHRISTMAS" ON 5TH AVENUE.

On Thursday, December 15th at 1:30 pm, Comedian Jackie Mason, a founding member of Jews Against Anti-Christian Defamation, will be riding down 5th Avenue in New York City, (from St. Patrick’s Cathedral) to highlight the war on Christmas.

Jackie will be in a 15-ft. Ford Excursion with banners proclaiming "Jews for ‘It’s OK To Say Merry Christmas.’" His route will pass many of the retail stores that no longer wish shoppers a "Merry Christmas."

Jackie will be talking "tachlis" with the press (at 1:30), in front of St. Pat’s. Additional statements by
  • Don Feder, president of Jews against Anti-Christian Defamation
  • Bill Donohue, president of The Catholic League
  • Rabbi Aryeh Spero, a member of the JAACD advisory board
  • Attorney and author Raoul Felder.
On December 1st, Jews Against Anti-Christian held a press conference at the National Press Club to publicize efforts to purge Christmas from the culture, including the Wisconsin elementary school that decided to change the lyrics of "Silent Night" to "Cold In The Night." I said "Happy Holidays" to somebody the other day, thinking I was covering all my bases. I don't consider it being "PC" (Political correctness is a load of garbage) I consider it just being curteous. However, they replied by saying, "We're Jehovah's Witnesses, we don't celebrate holidays, but we enjoy all the fine discounts." After that, I just say, "Don't worry, be happy."

Just knowing that the guy who made Caddyshack II wants me to say 'Merry Christmas' is enough to get me on the 'Happy Holidays' bandwagon.
