Yeah, people have been saying Happy Holidays for years, but now if you do some rightwing dumbass will boycott your store because he thinks your being PC. Maybe Happy Holidays is more appropriate since we are celebrating 2 holidays, Christmas and New Years. The only reason Christmas is celebrated now is because the pagans already had festivals this time of year to celebrate the lengthening of the days. To think that Christ was actually born at this time of year is stupid.

I use both. If I say it first it is Merry Christmas. If I am responding to someone who has said Happy Holidays I will reply the same. I did draw the line with my 4 year old when he started talking about Holiday Cookies.

Hey, I really enjoy the churches that will be closed on Christmas. Can someone please explain that to me?

I don't care what people say, as long as things aren't banned from being said outright. Crap like schools changing the lyrics to "Silent Night" to make them secular pisses me off, not because some people are secular, but because these people are stupid.

Another example: There was some jackwipe nimrod who wrote a long letter to the Trib, complaining they were traumatized for life as a child because people were saying "Merry Christmas" and this person wasn't "part of that club". WTF? Traumatized for life by a phrase that had nothing to do with them? Talk about blaming absolutely everything in your life on other people.

If you celebrate it, fine, if you don't, fine. I wish people in the country would grow the fuck up, though.

[sarcasm]I wish people would stop saying "country"! This is so offensive. Where do you get off pushing your views onto others? Why do you stereotype so harshly? Those poor people in the country. And you rich, snobby people in the city....just another case of city folk traumatizing country folk.[/sarcasm]

Hey, the sarcasm font is working again!

Regardless of what's going on in the media, I have noticed a ton more places saying "Merry Christmas" or referencing the holiday this year. I just started my shopping today and all but one place said it. Definitely a change from years past.

Yes the changing of lyrics in Christmas songs to make them more "Holiday" is complete BS...I heard baby Jesus referred to as the "Holiday Infant" once :shake:

In general, I say "Merry Christmas." I probably would go with "Happy Holidays" if I were speaking to someone whom I knew was of another religion.
Honestly, it isn't worth getting upset over this garbage. People that are upset over the use of "Merry Christmas" can kiss my ass. People who are upset over the use of "Happy Holidays" can suck my balls. Or vice versa. Doesn't really matter to me. :)
