"I was eating a cheeseburger and they came to my table and said, 'Hey Lawrence, we forgot to tell you that you have an offer to play at Ohio State'," he stated. "I almost spit out my cheeseburger in front of people because I didn't know how to react. It was a funny experience."

Cager has also received offers from Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee in the past week, but the one from Ohio State was the biggest of them all. In fact he now has the Buckeyes as the leader in his recruitment.

FOUR-STAR WIDE RECEIVER LAWRENCE CAGER CUT LIST TO SEVEN SCHOOLS

When Lawrence Cager visited Ohio State for the first time, barely three weeks ago at Friday Night Lights, he left campus with an offer and a declared leader in his recruitment and a funny story that involved Urban Meyer and a cheeseburger.

"They told me they had forgotten to tell me that I had an offer to play here at Ohio State," Cager told11W following the Buckeyes biggest camp of the summer. "I almost spit out my cheeseburger. I didn't know how to react but it was a funny experience. They're definitely a top school right now on my list...Probably number one.""

The trip to Ohio State was the last trip in a whirlwind summer for the 6-foot-5, 200 pounder from Towson, Maryland. A summer that saw trips to Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio, Oregon and a handful of others, Cager saw himself go from a relative unknown to holding offers from many of college football's elite. Tonight he has trimmed his list to seven final schools. Of those seven, the only school he's scheduled an official visit to — Ohio State — remains at the top of his list. He'll be back in Columbus on September 6th as the Buckeyes host Virginia Tech under the lights in Columbus.

Contd....

THE HURRY-UP: OHIO STATE COACHES HIT THE ROAD FOR TOP PROSPECTS
CAGER GETS A VISIT FROM ZACH SMITH
One of the higher-priority targets left on the Ohio State offensive board, Lawrence Cager, saw Buckeyes' wide receivers coach Zach Smith roaming the halls of Calvert Hall today. What was Smith's message to the 6-foot-5, 202-pound wide receiver?

"(Coach Smith) told me that I'm the exact receiver he needs still in their offense," Cager told 11W. "They're looking for a player who has height, speed and can go up and get the ball at its highest point."

Interestingly, Cager followed up that statement by mentioning that it appeared Ohio State filled that need with the commitment of A.J. Alexander. Now, our sources have indicated a few items to us regarding Alexander and Cager. The first is that Cager's offer and place in the recruiting class was not in any way, shape, and/or form hindered by Alexander's commitment. Why? Because Ohio State sees Alexander as an H-Back all the way.

"That's good to hear," Cager said when he asked for clarification. "Real good to hear."

The Hurry-Up
DON'T SLEEP ON CAGER
One of the bigger remaining 2015 offensive targets for the Buckeyes is Towson, Maryland's Lawrence Cager. The 6-foot-5, 202 pound wide receiver visited Rutgers this weekend, and while the Scarlet Knights are one of his final choices, the Buckeyes — along with Alabama — are the two schools at the top of his list. With zero true wide receivers committed for 2015, it's easy to see why Cager is a priority.

"People sleep on Cager, I think, because he's not the 'burner' Urban Meyer is known for recruiting. That doesn't stop Ohio State from making him their top guy left on the board," one source from the DMV said. "They are in a great position with him, and they've let him know that even with other offers that went out recently, he's their top guy."

Cager will visit Ohio State officially when they host Michigan in the regular season finale. The following two weekends will be the greatest threats to their recruitment of him: he'll visit Notre Dame and Alabama on back-to-back weekends. A decision is likely in early January.
