I would bet that more people around the country know names like Case Keenum, Justin Blackmon, Robert Griffin III, and Kellen Moore than anyone who played for Ohio State or Florida this year. None of those guys went to powerhouse football programs. Talent makes it's own spotlight.

There's your fallacy... Many more were household names under JT. And your list includes QB's that put up huge #'s and a WR of a top-3 football team. And several of those guys weren't able to be watched on a regular basis by half the country either. None of which are going to be present at Maryland.

Just my take on the situation. Diggs would play on much bigger stages outside his home state.

I'll bet the marginal players at OSU are known by thousands more people than marginal players at places like Maryland. Moreover, big time players only amplify this. You're right, big players make waves regardless. But big time players at household brand name-schools can be Tsunami's (See Tim Tebow.)

Yes agreed, but it also has to do with the system of each school. Look at all those players and notice how they are in specific system. Diggs would THRIVE in a system at OSU...

I don't think we would have heard of Keenum if he played in a Pass AND Run style offense. Kellen Moore, decent QB, but I'm sure the next QB at Boise will be a household name by the time he leaves...Blackmon and Griffin are just beasts. And both benefit from the Pass Heavy/Spread Offenses

OSU provides more exposure for athletes in general yes, but if your good enough doesn't matter who you play for you'll get exposure.

Look guys, no one's saying you can't be a big-time player at a non-big time program. None of those guys were top-level national recruits though.

For a top-level guy looking for, as I've pointed out already, an already big stage, Maryland doesn't hit. That's all I'm saying, not that Diggs can't be a top NFL draft pick going to Maryland.

And Ben Roethlisberger, Tony Romo, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, etc... very long list of guys from no-name schools in the college football universe that are or were the absolute top tier of NFL talent. Heck, at one point in the mid 2000's, there were something like 7 starting QB's in the NFL who were MAC alumni.

Regardless, I think it boils down to: the kid is a talent. He is getting 5* hype, and he probably believes he is worthy of it (who wouldn't?). He isn't sitting there saying "well in the event that I'm mediocre, it would be better if I went to...", he's saying "where will I have the best college experience?" And that's something only he can answer. If he's as good as billed, he could go to Tiffin University for all we care and make it to the League. (see: Nate Washington)

But I agree, none of this is relavent. All that matters is where Stefon feels is his best fit. Hope to see a buckeye leaf next to his name by the end of the week.
