Maryland Terrapins (official thread of the turdles)

That was a Maryland defensive "hat trick"......:

1) give up 40 yards on a completed pass to the Maryland 23
2) give up another 12 yards on the targeting penalty to the Maryland 11
3) Gater gets DQed for the rest of the game.

However, Illinois being Illinois missed a field goal from the 8 yard line, i.e. didn't score on that drive.

The Turtles sure aren't getting any respect in the polls here. They are 4-0 have have beaten 2 P5 schools (albeit not power house schools), still it's more than you can say for some of the schools ranked above them. Wouldn't you think that #5 Iowa would be more than just (-4) against an unranked team?

No. 5 Iowa vs. Maryland odds heading into game week

Two unbeaten Big Ten teams will get together as the No. 5 Iowa Hawkeyes face the Maryland Terrapins at Maryland Stadium in College Park Maryland on Friday, October 1st at 8:00 p.m. ET. The game is scheduled to air on FS1.

Iowa (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) hasn’t been all that impressive offensively but they haven’t had to be at this point with how well the Hawkeyes have played on the defensive side of the ball. Over the weekend, Iowa went into halftime trailing the Colorado State Rams, but the Hawkeyes regained control with a 24-14 victory. The Hawkeyes will need to avoid at let down in a potential look-ahead spot on Friday night with a huge game against the Penn State Nittany Lions looming.

Maryland (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) will enter October undefeated, which is quite the accomplishment for this program under Mike Locksley. The Terrapins did what they needed to do in a win over the Kent State Golden Flashes 37-16 on Saturday as they pulled away in the second quarter. Allowing 458 yards to Kent State isn’t the greatest thing to see, but Maryland should be focused heading into a home game on a short week.

This is a "trap game" for Iowa. I wouldn't surprise me to see Maryland beat Iowa.

It seems as if Maryland coach Mike Locksley feels slighted by the Big Ten. Addressing the media ahead of his team’s Week 5 clash against No. 5 Iowa, Locksley took a shot at the conference’s decision to schedule the game for Friday night on Fox Sports 1.

“At some point, maybe we’ll get full membership so we don’t have to do this.” Locksley said, according to a Tweet from Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger.

Locksley does have a point, as this week’s game will be the second Friday night contest for Maryland in the past three weeks. Both teams are undefeated and the Terrapins are hosting the game, which is always an edge for a team looking to pull off the upset.

Just sayin':

1) On the plus side he is getting a prime time game that should draw pretty good ratings.
2) He didn't get screwed on the B1G schedule nearly as bad as Ohio State did in 1981.
