Maryland at tOSU, Oct 9th, Noon ET on FOX

Anybody got suggestions for what a 10yo would need to see to fall even more in love with this team? I remember my first time being on campus for a game, and the way it was presented to me made me fall absolutely in love. Skull session, WHAC, walking the tailgate lots, and Buckeye Grove are on the list. What else?

As long as the Buckeyes take care of business in the loaded East division, and continue their (to me astonishing) defensive improvements we should see a real-life test of ours vs Iowa in the B1G championship game.

My goodness. Look who the cat dragged in!

Ryan was the OC in that 2017 Iowa game. He'll remember that one and the 2018 Purdont game for that matter too.

I really want Iowa to stay unbeaten and for us to win out to face them in Indy for a chance at the playoffs for either team.

Also I should add that I too think the past 2 weeks has been astonishing on defense. Not great offenses at all but that Rutgers offense went through ttun like a hot knife in the 2nd half 2 weeks ago. Yet our starters were out by the 2nd drive in the 3rd vs Rutgers.

If we can silence Maryland I'm going to be so damn cocky lol

I think we're getting the Big Noon window (opposite the Red River Rivalry on ABC), because we'll draw opposite that game better, and so that Penn St/Iowa at 4:00 PM will draw better.

The downside is that with the 12:00-4:00 programming block, FOX is free to stuff an extra half-hour of commercials into the broadcast. The TV timeouts are the absolute worst thing about this scheduling window.

Trust your FOX/BTN overlords…

Ranking second for the weekend, Michigan-Wisconsin drew a 2.5 and 4.31 million in the FOX “Big Noon Saturday” window — up 56% in ratings and 60% in viewership from TCU-Texas last year (1.6, 2.70M) and up 32% and 53% respectively from 2019 (Texas Tech-Oklahoma: 1.9, 2.81M). The Wolverines’ win outdrew ESPN’s competing Arkansas-Georgia game, the site of College Gameday (2.2, 3.85M). The FOX “Big Noon” game has won its timeslot in all five weeks this season.

FOX also drew a 1.5 and 2.62 million for Oklahoma-Kansas State later in the day, up 14% and 29% respectively from 2019 (USC-Washington: 1.3, 2.03M). The network is now averaging 4.03 million season-to-date, up 32% from 2019 (3.04M) and its best start to a season on record.

….

Big Ten Network scored its top two audiences of the season, with 1.19 million for Ohio State’s rout of Rutgers and 1.16 million for regional action thereafter.

Teach him to sucker punch Buck-I-Guy in the dick after he asks for $20 to pose with the little man for a photo op.

What’s Buck-I-Guy going to do? Shoot him with his finger pistols?

That's going a little far; just do what everyone else does. When he says $20 for a picture with him, you say, "Well... OK..." Then hold out your hand for the $20. He won't give it to you for some reason though; he just gets mad and walks away. I've never figured out why.

Be in your seats in time for the Ramp Entrance.

I don't know if it will resonate with kids in 2021, but when I was 10 in 1973, the Ramp Entrance is what did it for me. It's something that, if you fall in love with it as a kid, it gives you chills every time for the rest of your life. I've got chills right now just thinking of the first time; the Minnesota game in 1973.

I echo what DBB said about ramp entrance. I think you've got it pretty well covered other than that. It's what I did with my kids (son mostly) and they are lifers.

As he gets older, I recommend showing him the spot on the field where famous plays occurred. Also, do what you can to get him to every home edition of The Game. I've been taking my son since he was 8 and that is our tradition now, he's seen 2012-2018 in person and those are some of our most treasured times together. I don't think about the money or inconvenience of going sometimes. I wouldn't trade those 4 games for the world.
