Maryland football: Mike Locksley shares reaction to five-interception day for Taulia Tagovailoa

ON TAULIA TAGOVAILOA
"I think the big thing for him is just keeping this confidence. You know, obviously, anytime you have a multiple interception game like that, for a quarterback, he was pressing a little bit after the first couple interceptions and wanting to go play well. And you know, what I talked to him about was like, look, this is one game. All right, let's just play one play. And let's get to the next play. And, you know, obviously, you know, he made some mistakes today. But it's not only it's on us as coaches. It is on his teammates to be where they need to be in. This is a group effort, where a team will stick together. I still have a lot of faith in him as a quarterback. I mean, for four games, he played really, really well. And this was a poor game, not just on his part, but on all of us."

ON MISTAKES AND PENALTIES

"Well, you know, penalties, interceptions turnovers, those things all me falling down discipline category. And so we still sit here after a loss this time with us not playing the type of football that I want us to play on that we expect to play. But it's something that will just continue to coach us through and continue to make the necessary adjustments and get it corrected, which we've got to get don

Bucks open as a 3 TD favorite. O/U is 72.5.

Just sayin': They sure are expecting a lot of scoring; 72½ is the highest O/U on the board.

However, if you think history will repeat itself Saturday:
Ohio State is 6–0 all-time against Maryland, winning the six games played from 2014-2019 by an average score of 58.3-22.3. In the three games played at Ohio Stadium, the Buckeyes are 3–0 with an average score of 61.3-18.7.

go for the over.

Going to be a rough go for Maryland if this is the CJ Stroud we get going forward. That was a top 10 defense Rutgers had if I recall and we still made them look silly. Maryland doesn't play as well as Rutgers on defense so expect a lot of points.

Wouldn't be surprised with another 52-14 type of game.

Yeah, Ohio State is a bigger favorite over Maryland than they were over Rutgers. Ohio State should be able to build up another big lead; but you never know how many points either side will score in "garbage time" when Ohio State's 3rd, 4th, and 5th stringers get to play. Regardless, I'd expect a lot of points too.

As long as the D shows improvement and it doesn't end up like Haskin's in 2018 we good

I hope that Demus will be OK after he got hurt Friday night returning a kickoff against Iowa.

Can’t believe he’ll be able to play against the Buckeyes, based on how ugly that looked, but hopefully it won’t impact his future too much, he had a big year going at WR.

It’s kind of surprising teams continue to put their best weapons out there on kick/punt returns after the injuries to Ronnie Bell and Dontay Demus. I know that’s easy to say when you have an amazing amount of depth, but it just doesn’t seem worth it risking a potential season ending injury on a low percentage big special teams play.
