Game Thread Marshall vs tOSU, Thursday Sep 2, 7:30 pm ET, BTN

In 2006, the Bucks opened the season with a win against NI where they went up 28-0 in 16 minutes. They ended up winning 28-9. Like that team, we are returning similar type numbers and coming off of a big bowl win, riding a lot of pre season hype.
I can see this game being a lot like that, jump on them early, then sit on the lead and let the back ups in the game for the 4th quarter before gearing up for Miami.

It was 35-12, but the point is still valid.

Ahh, serves my right looking up the score on ESPN if what you say is true. Here, they have it listed as 28-9 unless I'm seeing things.

Edit: Haha, and now that I look the score up elsewhere I have to wonder where the fuck espn got that score. Still 35-12 or whatever would be good enough for me.

Well, I was at the Navy game last year, and I was puckering quite a bit when they were going for two to tie it up with 2.5 minutes left... we all know what happened then, but it was scary.

Our biggest challenge in beating Marshall will be getting up for Marshall.

Would love to see Kenny G playing the 4th quarter. But I'll just take a win.

still if I'm a bettin' man, I'm sticking with my 41 to 11.

I'm not sure why some folks do that every year only to flip out when the opponent covers the spread. It's our opening game, and we know how JT plays them especially with a "big" opponent in the next game. He'll show Miami as little as possible.

We'll win, but by something like 31-13.

I think the "scoring window" is going to be open longer this year

"With that in mind, allow me to suggest that every game has a ?scoring window? in which points are actually at least as important as punts in the head coach?s eyes. The length of time that window is open depends on a lot of factors. The overriding one is the score, of course, but the number of points that are enough to motivate Tressel to open the throttle is directly related to two other things: how likely the offense is to actually succeed at trying anything more exotic than running off tackle or throwing a short pass, and how likely the defense is to allow points without having to contend with a short field created by a mistake by the offense or in the kicking game. "

Further more, the wide open playbook will allow us to whoop Marshall and save major sections of the playbook for Miami. There are just more plays to run this year

I was at that game...it was awesome. I was right in front of the big scoreboard and by right in front I mean last row up where I had my own individual chair.

Actually, they won 35-13 (were up 28-3 at the half)...Wolfe scored a TD against the ballboys and quality control assistants in the fourth quarter.

I remember the 2004 game. Look who was the QB. Zwick had a very promising start in that game. Santonio was eating them up(over 200yds) but had to leave the game for the entire 3rd quarter and the offense that was blowing them out stalled. We lost Fox, too.

Expect Marshal to go all out.

I remember the Marshall game well.. me and my grandfather were in B Deck and Nuge walked out to attempt the 50+ yarder for the game.

As the ball left his foot it sailed up above the overhang and we couldn't see where the hell the ball was.. and then the north end-zone exploded and I grabbed my grandpa yelling "he made it! he made it!"

What an awesome ending.
