Game Thread Marshall vs tOSU, Thursday Sep 2, 7:30 pm ET, BTN

I will set my recorder to the game and leave for CBus about noon which will put me down there about 3 (thats at the 'Shoe). That way I can tailgate and party right up to game time.
Bring it on.

Exactly....when Boise St. beates an over-rated Va Tech team, we better hope we beat Marshall by 21 or more.
We'd jump back over Boise with a win over Miami the following week. Bottom line, if we go undefeated we'll be in the Glendale with wins over Miami, @ Wisconsin and @ Iowa.

You can NEVER be too sure. Especially if Wisky, Miami and Iowa slide...or just two of the three...then how many quality wins do we have? Then what? It's not worth putting things in cruise control at any point. The media loves Boise State and if they pound a Va Tech team who could go on and finish top 10 (ACC competition is little to none), then anything is possible.

All of that being said, we need to handle Marshall with ease. We don't need to win 56-3 (oh man I'd love that), but we do need to win convincingly in the fashion of 38 (JT's fave number) to 7 or something along those lines. After 5 teams went undefeated, everyone I'm sure has learned their lesson about the importance of jockeying for position in the top 10. Beating Marshall by one or two touchdowns could put us at 3 or 4 and IMO, if you have the #2 spot, you do not give that up ever.

First, the tide is turning on Boise State in the media - I've seen quite a few writers taking the position that an undefeated BSU should not go to the BCSCG in place of a 1 loss SEC team, for example. Second, the media doesn't play much of a role in the selection process. They have no roll in the BCS process itself, but obviously they do get to influence voters by the way they report.

In any event, it's far too early to worry about who's getting screwed by voters and polls. Win em all, the rest will sort itself out.

I still like our chances of being where we want if we're undefeated and I refuse to worry about it before the season even starts since it's pointless. I'd like to beat Marshall big, but we'll be just fine if it's not a blowout. If I recall we're a pretty solid #2 right now, we're not getting passed up by two teams if we only win by 10-14 points.

We might drop in the AP poll because idiots are allowed to vote. But they don't matter in the BcS picture. The coaches wouldn't drop a team because they won in a less than stellar way. Especially in the first game of the season. Get a W and we're fine.

I would love to see a beatdown because I'll be in sec 1a.

Cowherd, to his slight credit, was absolutely ripping Boise State yesterday, saying that over half the teams in the Big 10 and SEC would be favored in 11 out of 12 games (Va Tech being the odd game out) if they had the same schedule, and pointing out that if Rutgers or Stanford knocked off Va Tech, they could run the rest of that schedule no problem, would they even be considered for the National Title game if that happened ect. ect

My daughter and I will be leaving Northern Virginia about 8 AM Thursday morning so we can get settled in and start "warming up" at about 3 PM as well. I'll be making the trip up for every game but one this year. It's a long drive but there's nothing I'd rather do on game day than spend it with 105,000 of my closest friends.

:oh:
