She has a child.

Used to be married to some HUGE shot-putter who looked like Mark Henry.

That same husband, if I'm not mistaken, also got busted for steroids 5-6 years back, which makes this even less of a shocker.

This is no surprise at all, because yes her husband was busted right arount Olympic time. Plus, her complexion looked like Mark McGwire's during those Olympics, so it wasn't all that hard to tell even then.
CJ Hunter is the shot putter... got busted for taking nandrolone right before the 2000 Olympics... was the favorite to win going into the Games. According to the all-knowing Wikipedia they were married from 1998-2002.

Ya... like I said, it really doesn't surprise me. Especially since her at one time partner Tim Montgomery was banned for 2 years for doping (had his 100m world record stripped also).
She has a kid with Montgomery... a nice group of winners she's been involved with. :shake:

CJ Hunter was hired as the North Carolina State S&C assistant a few years ago...

I have to wonder if there are any sports figures who don't use steroids.

Steroids apparently also snaggle your teeth...
I saw Marion Jones run at Princeton in 2001 or 2002... she actually really looked pretty good in person. Seriously.
Good friend of mine met her at the state track meet when they were both in HS...he did not agree with your assessment

IOC ready to strip Jones of medals

LONDON (AP) -- The IOC is ready to move quickly to strip Marion Jones of her five Olympic medals following her reported doping confession -- although her most prized gold could wind up going to a runner involved in a major drug scandal herself.
The International Olympic Committee said Friday it will step up its investigation into the Jones case and the possible removal of her three gold and two bronze medals from the 2000 Sydney Games.

Standing to inherit Jones' gold medal in the 100 would be Greek sprinter Katerina Thanou, who finished second in Sydney in 11.12 seconds.
Thanou and fellow Greek runner Kostas Kenteris were at the center of a major doping scandal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. They failed to show up for drug tests on the eve of the games, claimed they were injured in a motorcycle accident and eventually pulled out. Both were later suspended for two years.

Seriously, why do we even have the Olympics anymore?

Or the Tour De France?

Or Major League Baseball records?

Can we at least end the "I lied or did something bad and let you down" "but I found religion", "still you have the right to be angry with me" "even though I am sorry" "so please find it in your heart to forgive me", "can we move on now?" thingee?

Don't take this as me standing up for her but at least she is owning up to her mistakes... IMO she should take her apology one one step further and return her Olympic medals before the IOC takes them away... it would show she is at least sincere with her apology.

He was a coach at North Carolina before that but resigned when he started dating Jones while she was running there.

Or any professional sports? There will ALWAYS be athletes in almost every sport who attempt to find a competitive advantage outside of the rules.

People fail to realize that this is how some people make a living. Doing some sport or something physical that revolves around how fast, how big you are. If your boss came in and said you're out a job unless you pick up the slack, then you have to rethink and redo everything you have ever done. People COULD think twice and just realize that steroids are all over the sports industry. The people have DEDICATED their entire lives to being the best at something. It's funny to me when people make it out like they could actually do something even in the same world as people this dedicated. 90% or better of the people in this world have no idea what it's like to train for something 10+ years...Think about that..What kind of drive does that take? What kind of motivation/hard ships/injuries does one go through over this course of time?

Steroids will enhance a lot of things, but the top elite athletes at their respective sport have done nothing but practice to get where they are. It's odd that steroids are so potent yet you don't see people manning up and getting off a couch to become the greatest (insert sport here) of all time. It just doesn't happen, and for the people that think they could load up and do something even simliar that just doesn't happen either. The scapegoat of laziness people cast on steroids is what pisses me off personally. Sooner or later people will realize that it is widely used in all aspects of sports yet at the same time people want to see THE BEST...Live a day in the shoes of someone who makes their paycheck with their athleticism, and tell me it would never cross your mind to make a better living because you are better at something. There is no promotion that will happen if you give it all your hard work and time unless you progress physically. If you KNEW beyond a shadow of a doubt that something was going to catapult you into what you love and end up making a living at it...(financial security for you and your entire family) then a lot of people would analyze their thoughts differently.

There are very few people on most forums that I have ever read that have actual experience in DETAIL(start to finish, pct included) about cycling and experienced the good and bad of steroids. Reading something on ESPN about steroids is no different then reading someone on ESPN about Ohio State. It's written there to read and for people to look at and make assumptions, but in reality they really don't know shit about anything, but are just trying to make a living like anyone else...
