God help me, I've been spending more time on Shaggy than Gatorcountry. I'm three bowls of popcorn into it and I'm still laughing at the way they are handling it. Far more entertaining than any of our sky-is-falling moments so I have to hand it to them. Some funny dudes over there.

Agreed- And ThuJone hasn't even weighed in yet...

True.... I was laying that blame more on the AD & the UT Regents than Mack... but shit.. the way the night is going why not heap it on Mack.
I didn't mean to suggest it was on Mac. Just saying, after a season where they missed a bowl, and now losing their HCIW and other staff.... relatively tough times ahead for the program. Texas TV maybe isn't as interesting on the wider scale... Big XII dying... In retrospect taking the Big Ten offer may have been better. :wink2:

The thing about it is: it just makes too much sense. Mack sat back on his haunches and was reluctant to promote Major to OC, and didn't give Muschamp a timetable for taking over. When you name a HCIW, its probably a good idea to either pay him like a head coach, or let him know when he's going to get paid. Yes, maybe being DC at Texas is more desirable than being a head coach at Arizona State or something like that. But Muschamp got a call from Florida. You just never turn down a tangible promotion at a great university to sit on your haunches and wait out Mack Brown at Texas.

Did Mack just think you could give someone a title for a future indefinite decision and then that would make Muschamp loyal to Texas and Texas only? I mean, a king can name his crown prince, but if its going to be indefinite until the prince can run the kingdom he's just going to find another kingdom. Or kill the king... :)

Then, everyone knows that Major Applewhite is the future of Texas' offense. Yet Mack Brown refuses to see that, stating shit like "he isn't ready" as though being an OC is the same as starting a freshmen QB. If he can coach and recruit, then you promote them when they do well.

Brown just got lethargic in not making key staff decisions and it cost him his two most important pieces.

Probably was waiting to see if Chris Simms became available in the off-season...
