LSU Tigers (official thread)

I think Aranda is the smart choice for LSU. Doesn’t mean I hope they do that.

I agree. Would be less expensive than poaching Jimbo or whatever "Hot Name" that Woodward wants and would likely be a better coach than that "hot name" hire (I think Jimbo and Lincoln are both overrated).

If they could get him, Bob Stoops (even though he's 61) may be an even better one.

Holy shit. When you posted this I just thought of how epic this would be.

Imagine, say if SEC did the pod systems, if Texas ended up with Aggy, OU, and LSU, and Bob Stoops was the HC at LSU?

They're already dreading going to the SEC, but how much moreso if they knew that Bob Stoops would be waiting there to hand them annual ass kickings like the good ol' days? (Even with an West/East set up, this would still be the case).

Yeah, LSU may be interested bringing him back. LSU hiring Aranda would make Baylor really love LSU, especially after LSU recently hired Baylor's women's basketball coach.

With Ed Orgeron Out, Could LSU Target Baylor Head Coach Dave Aranda?

Aranda is reportedly making $4 million per year at Baylor. He’s only in the second year of his six-year contract, too, so it’s likely the buyout could be significant.

But, LSU is about to pay Orgeron $17 million to go away. One has to ask if the money really matters to the Tigers, if Aranda is the right fit?

https://www.heartlandcollegesports....uld-lsu-target-baylor-head-coach-dave-aranda/

$4M x 4 years left on Aranda's contract + $17M buyout to Orgeron = $33M to get Aranda and that doesn't include his LSU salary. But it's only money....

Doesn't it make sense the West would add OU/Texas/Mizzou and they switch 3 others to the East? Geographically those three in the East is ridiculous.

Guess you could draw it diagonally between Tuscaloosa and Auburn and move Auburn to the East keeping Mizzou there but Texas/OU makes the most sense in the West with A&M. It would be hilarious if they moved Auburn and Alabama both to the East! LOL

The only coach that isn't over rated is probably Nick Saban. Even winning a National Championship doesn't guarantee anything these days. Of the 5 coaches that have won a Natty and are still coaching in college besides Saban; they are complaining about 1 just because he's now having a down year (Swinney), 2 had some issues/problems at the school where they won a National Championship and are at another school now (Fisher and Brown), and 1 was just fired this year (Orgeron). In coaching it is always "what have you done for me lately?"

Top 10 salaries for head coaches

Coach School Salary Buyout
1. Nick Saban Alabama $9.75 million top tier coach
2. Ed Orgeron LSU $9.01 million FIRED this season
3. David Shaw Stanford $8.92 million way way way over rated
4. Dabo Swinney Clemson $8.37 million tier below Saban, was the closed to actually getting to the top tier until this season
5. Lincoln Riley Oklahoma $7.67 million tier below Saban
6. Dan Mullen Florida $7.57 million way way way over rated
7. Jimbo Fisher Texas A&M $7.5 million tier below Saban
8. Kirby Smart Georgia $7.13 million currently tier below Saban; however, good potential to move up, let's see what he does the next few years
9. Ryan Day Ohio State $6.61 million currently tier below Saban; however, good potential to move up, let's see what he does the next few years
10. Gary Patterson TCU $6.10 million FIRED this season

Surprisingly I think Jimbo can leave Texas A&M without having to pay anything. LSU would only be on the hook for the massage guaranteed contract that they would have to offer to get him. He would undoubtedly demand a lot more guaranteed money from LSU than he is getting at Texas A&M to jump:

Fisher, 56, is making $7.5 million this year and would be owed about $95.6 million if he is fired without cause on Dec. 1. Prior to the extension, he would've been due $45.6 million.

Yes; but colleges, conferences, and/or the NCAA frequently does things that don't made sense.....

A regular season Alabama vs Georgia game every year would be a TV ratings bonanza for the conference...:cash:

Should've just create the "Red River Conference" with teams only from Oklahoma and Texas in it.

Oklahoma
Oklahoma St
Tulsa

Texas
Texas Tech
TCU
Baylor
Houston
Texas A&M
SMU

For 12 they could have added any of the next state over in Kansas, Kansas St or New Mexico, New Mexico St and UTEP. UTSA. Longhorn Network would have some viewing radius! LOL

Probably should get back to LSU shenanigans in here though.

Except for Aggie. They'll try at first, but won't be able to resist the urge to run out and embrace Texas.

Those two weirdo schools have a bizarre co-dependent relationship with each other.

Agreed! aTm will take delight in beating UT, and claim from the mountaintop their storied rivalry that no one will care(similar to OU/OK st or even UGA/GA Tech-sorry but its not a rivalry when you're annually kick their ass)

Yeah I don't pay the North Ave Nerds much mind. Do I enjoy beating them? Sure. But they're a non-factor (unless we somehow lose to them, then I'm pissed. Good thing it almost never happens).

If I were a Scam-y Instagram/Youtube Charlatan Investor "Guru", I'd be pumping Novelty Cup manufacturers in College Station, TX to the MOON right now.

With 'unbelievable' recruiting class, Texas A&M football coach Jimbo Fisher says he'd be 'dumbest human' to leave for LSU Tigers

Jimbo Fisher reiterated his plan to remain at Texas A&M despite continued speculation that LSU would have interest in hiring him.

Fisher said the Aggies could wind up with the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in college football, and if he were to leave, that "you ought to say that's the dumbest human being and I don't want him to be my coach."

"We're gonna recruit an unbelievable class this year," he said Monday. "So I'm the dumbest human being on God's earth to recruit all these guys to A&M so I can go across over there [to LSU] and go play against them."

Last week, Texas A&M landed the commitment of the No. 1 overall prospect, defensive tackle Walter Nolen.
