Louisville 25, RUTGERS 28 (Final)

Ok, I know hating on Louisville/Rutgers/BE is the new cool thing to do, but let's be realistic: every fanbase is guilty of this. USC did it with Ryan Ting in the Rose; tOSU did it with Hamby for Texas.

I'm not saying that morons are exclusive to that school, but that they are morons for doing it. :wink2:

If you are going to say Florida, what about Auburn?

I'm barely saying Florida, but the reason i picked them instead of Auburn is that
1. Florida is already higher in the BCS standings and the other being... Florida lost on the road to Auburn
2. Auburn lost at home to Arkansas.

I take home field advantage to be very serious and am less forgiving to a team who can't protect their home turf.

And USC beat Arkansas at Arkansas....

Holy Crap!!

I just realized that if the Trojans snap out of it and start playing like they are capable; this could lead to a dream BCS match-up for us old-timers.

Many of us who lived through the late-60s - early-70s think of OSU-USC as THE ROSE BOWL. All other match-ups are 2nd-rate by comparison. To see those two paired up with a national championship on the line again is a dream come true: for fans my age as well as for advertisers and TV execs.

Haha. Well I'll let the games play out, as I have serious doubts of Rutgers being able to beat W. Virginia at West Virginia.

The WV-UL game from the week before, West Virginia seemed like the better football team to me, that simply handed the game over in what was a sloopy game full of turnovers.

I just don't like to see everyone COMPLETELY dismissing the fact that Rutgers deserves to be mentioned in the title game discussions so long as they go undefeated.

Hey, I like Rutgers. Think they are a nice upstart program and have some good things going. If they win out, they deserve a shot at the crown.

But, I pretty much agree that they aren't going to win out...and I would almost bet on Cincinnati doing it next week in Clifton.

I wish people would stop bashing the Big East. You are allowed to think that none of those teams belong in the national championship discussion while still giving them credit for what they've built as a conference and as individual programs since they were decimated by the ACC raid. I'm seeing all of this stuff about so-and-so sucks - but some of these teams and players and coaches work every bit as hard as our favorite team, and are doing some good things here and there.

The ESPN talking heads seem to be avoiding the question of where to rank Rutgers. Assuming there are no upsets among the top-10, I'm willing to comfortably move them ahead of ND and West Virginia, but not ahead of Florida or Texas. That leaves Auburn, Cal, USC, and Arkansas for consideration.

I think they should stay behind Cal, Auburn, and USC. I know that Arkansas won at Auburn, but Arkansas's non-conference record consists of wins over Utah St., La-Monroe, and SE Missouri State, and a 50-14 home loss to USC. So Rutgers goes ahead of Arkansas in my book, and West Virginia and Louisville are both dead as far as the BCS Championship game goes.

Here's how I'd rank the teams that still have a shot at Glendale, as of today:

tOSU
TSUN
Texas
Florida
Auburn
USC
Cal
Rutgers
Arkansas
ND

This makes a tOSU/TSUN rematch more likely. If the unthinkable happens on 11/18, how could voters drop a tOSU team that lost to the new #1 team below a Texas team that tOSU defeated 24-7 in Austin?

Not a bad prediction from CFN on tonight's game (bold added):

cfn

What will happen: At a different time or a different place, this would be too tall of a hurdle for a Scarlet Knight team that doesn?t match the Cards? depth or athleticism. However, everything has lined up for an upset. While Rutgers is well rested, the Cardinals must hit the road a week after winning one of its most emotional games in school history. They?re saying all the right things, but it won?t be playing in front of a crowd that?ll be looking to exorcise more than a century worth of intercollegiate demons. The Knight D will prove to be for real and a couple of late field goals from Jeremy Ito will make Louisville?s perfect season finito.

CFN Prediction: Rutgers 26 Louisville 23 ...
