Louisville 25, RUTGERS 28 (Final)

Rutgers deserves nada.

Other than beating Furman the only team North Carolina has come close to beating is Rutgers. Rutgers beat South Florida by two and their only tough game was tonight.

I love Herbie, but tonight as soon as the game was over he said that it was time to start giving the Big East some respect. WTF - did he think neither team was going to win? What did ths game prove about the Big East?

A non-conf schedule of NC, Illinois, Ohio U, Howard and Navy does NOT qualify you to play for the championship of college football.

the second half was like a duplication of what happened to tOSU against Illinois.. completely shut down

somewhat, but this was more of a product of what Rutgers was doing on defense than Louisville closing down the playbook in the 2nd half....

It proved 3 things in my eyes

1) That game last week just showcased that WVU and Louisville have no defense.

2) That Rutgers is a good young team with a good young RB.

3) That although the Big East has improved as a conference, it still has a ways to go and still lacks both a marquee name and a DOMINANT team.

UL board is MELTING down. Check it out:

Do I think Rutgers can compete with Ohio State probably not.
Although i'm part of the group that feels Rutgers should play in the title game if they go undefeated. I agree with what others have said that the elite 3 are Ohio State, Michigan, and MAYBE Texas.

If Ohio State wins, who would want a repeat of either game. Ohio State already beat Texas pretty handedly AT Texas. Michigan with one loss would have just lost to Ohio State so a rematch won't happen.

The only team left that I think can make an arguement to be more deserving to play Ohio State (if scUM beat ohio state then texas would get in) then Rutgers would be a one loss Florida, but I don't think it is a given that Florida will finish the year with only one loss.

If those morons are blaming this loss on one kid for one thing, they TRULY don't know shit about football and I DON'T think they even watched that game.

Let Rutgers have their well-earned win tonight. Great enthusiasm. Stadium full of red was the 12th player. Nice 2nd half D schemes. Lots of joy in the Garden State.

How much of their modest football wad was shot tonight, we shall see next week. My guess is that wva will whip Rutgers in Dec., but who knows?

Tonight was just an exciting comeback college football game.

One thing this game did was make it very unlikely that OSU will be able to look back on the season and say they beat the teams that finished 2, 3 and 4.

If Louisville had won, and we had gone on to beat them in Glendale; they may very well have finished fourth, as few other teams would only have one loss. TSUN and Texas may very likely have finished 2 and 3.

Now, we are almost certain to play a one loss team IF we make it to Glendale. A rematch with either TSUN or Texas just became much more likely. Rematch or not; knocking a team to two losses probably knocks them lower than fourth place, unless there are only 2 teams with one loss at the end.

All of this is window dressing to the main event for which this game set the table. And that is the huge cluster-fudge controversy that will embroil the BCS as to who should go to Glendale opposite the winner of 11/18/2006.

If you are going to say Florida, what about Auburn?

Nobody looks "elite" this year outside of Ohio State and Michigan (early on in the year). That's the point. Florida, no. Texas, maybe, but a repeat would be a bore.

Usually there are only about four or five teams in any given year that you would put in the elite category, including Penn State last season, and this year is no exception. You got OSU and Michigan. Texas is playing well. If USC makes it through this tough stretch unscathed, then they'd be an elite team. If Florida makes it through the SEC with one loss, then they deserve to be placed right up there. Right now it looks to be us playing Florida for the championship.

Ok, I know hating on Louisville/Rutgers/BE is the new cool thing to do, but let's be realistic: every fanbase is guilty of this. USC did it with Ryan Ting in the Rose; tOSU did it with Hamby for Texas.
