Look Who's Transferring Now (The Portal)

Cutlass Supreme-Maumee

Sounds legit. I think it’s the hyphen.

It was over before it truly began. Former three-star wide receiver prospect and Rutgers 2021 signee Brayden Fox entered the transfer portal, sources told 247Sports.

The incoming freshman committed to Rutgers University in April of 2020. But before even making it to his first regular season with the squad, he has elected to weigh his options and potentially take his talents elsewhere. The Ohio native played at Archbishop Hoban High School and called Akron, Ohio home.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, Fox appears to be a go-up-and-get-it type of wide receiver but it is unknown where he might pursue a transfer.

Fox held offers from Ball State, Buffalo, Air Force, Army and Liberty before signing with Rutgers.

Just sayin': His uncle, Tim Fox, was an All-American safety at Ohio State and enjoyed a 10-year NFL career from 1976-86.

Emerson came to Tennessee as a four-star prospect in the 2018 recruiting class. Emerson started nine games at nose tackle in 2019 and then played eight games as a reserve defensive lineman in 2020. In 2019, Emerson had 30 tackles, four of which were solo, and two sacks. He recorded just one assisted tackle in 2020.

Salter enters the portal just two days after he was dismissed from the program. He was previously suspended for more than two months because of his involvement in an incident at an on-campus residence in March, according to Patrick Brown of Vols247.

Emerson and Salter become two more names in a large group of Tennessee players to enter their names into the transfer portal. Since January 1, 2021, 22 players that were previously at Tennessee have now entered their names into the transfer portal.

The announcement is a surprise as Slade-Matautia was bound to be one of the Ducks' starting linebackers and key leaders on defense. He was the Ducks' leading tackler in 2020 with 45 tackles in seven games.

The Honolulu native totaled 120 tackles in three seasons at Oregon. He came in as a 4-star recruit in the 2017 recruiting class from St. Louis School.

Slade-Matautia was a key piece to the Ducks' Rose Bowl run in 2019, recording 63 tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss. With his loss, the Ducks have a lot of young talent that will have to step up.

Just sayin': Kind of surprising as he was expected to be a starter again in 2021 per https://autzenzoo.com/2021/05/03/oregon-football-post-spring-depth-chart-predictions-2021/3/.

Starting WILL: Isaac Slade-Matautia
Backup: Justin Flowe

The part I like about this...

It's not always a bad thing when guys leave shortly after a new coach shows up. Urban Meyer had a lot of guys leave when he got his first head coaching job at BG IIRC.

But... and here it is... my favorite part... this is bert we're talking about. The Kids of the world are going to be in the "Addition by subtraction; Just wait, you'll see" mode; but this is still bert. Bert gonna bert

The bar at Illinois is so low that Bert could get average 4 wins a season and be considered a success. And if he were to get a 6 win season, or heaven forbid 7(including a bowl win) then he'd be a legend. He knew what he was doing by taking this job, there's next to no pressure and his name will appease a fanbase that had orgasms over Lovie Smith.
