Look Who's Transferring Now (The Portal)

Another thought on the portal as it relates to OSU. There may be better options for OSU after the playoffs are finished. More options will be available after the playoffs that OSU may be waiting for.
Very good point! And also some coaches will lose their jobs opening another Portal for their players too

Did you not think that players almost always went to the highest bidder? You can’t think that every player who went to OSU just went there because they dreamed of being a Buckeye… The only difference now is that there’s an open market to transfer. Kids have been getting paid since the sport was pretty much invented. Any dominant team in the past, there’s next to no way they did it without inducement. The Program came out in the early 90s, Eric Dickerson took the Trans Am in like 1988, and there are countless stories of players being paid, but fans didn’t care when it was just rumors. But when it goes above board people want to clutch their pearls like Clarett was the only player on the NC team to get a new car and money, or that all Troy Smith got was a new suit and a meal paid for. Come on now, this have been going on FOREVER
The JUCO rule makes no sense other than the NCAA screwing up and then over correcting to the point where they open yet another loop hole.
I actually don’t think the B1G and the others didn’t offer kids money like the SEC had for 2 decades.

That’s why magically every year since 2022 the SEC and become less and less dominant.

Did a few? Sure. But was it like the SEC? No.

Haha you’re telling me we lost Barksdale legit?

Seriously though there’s no way we were playing the same game as the SEC with how different our teams looks to the SEC back between 2004-2013. Maybe UFM brought in a different approach.
I'll just say this, watch some of the former player's podcasts now. They know they can't get punished now, and a number of them have gave some interesting stories on ending up at OSU. And there were a bunch of guys who weren't even starters.

The SEC has ruled because of the line play. 2006 was a perfect vision of why SEC has dominated, massive, athletic DL and OL that are from the south and want to stay in the south. And its been well known that most lineman are "mama's boys" and want to stay close to home. No matter how much money OSU or scUM paid, those lineman weren't leaving the south. Even when UFM arrived OSU didn't land many southern lineman, he elevated the skill positions and focused more on athletic lineman, but they still were mainly from the midwest.
