London Olympics: "We're pretty much ready..."

China has a boxing gold medal match tomorrow + a boxing semi-final, two more diving events, and they're involved in a couple of the taekwondo events. After that I can't think of anything else they could win.

U.S. still has a boxing gold medal match tomorrow + T&F + women's soccer/volleyball/water polo/basketball + men's basketball. There are also the open water swimming events, which the U.S. traditionally dominates but I know nothing about.

USA on top at 81 Medals to China's 76 thanks to that explosion of medals (nine) in the past hour. China still holds the lead in golds at 35 to our 34 although China can still win one in their final event today (Taekwondo women's flyweight).

Allyson Felix wins gold in the women's 200m. Carmelita Jeter takes bronze.
Soooo happy to see Allyson FINALLY get that gold in the 200m! Great bonus with Jeter's performance too.

Aries Merritt wins Gold in the 110m Hurdles, while Jason Richardson takes the Silver.
Merritt was 0.01 away from the Olympic record... great runs by both him and Richardson.

Brittney Reese wins gold in the women's long jump & Janay DeLoach takes the bronze by 1 cm. That's six medals (Three gold, one silver & two bronze) in the past 30 minutes.

You missed one... Lashinda Demus got the silver in the 400m hurdles to open the flood gates. 7 medals in 4 finals this evening, USA sprinters and field finally showed up to compliment some great distance performances!

T&F is looking at a potential 1-2 sweep in the Decathlon tomorrow and possible medals in the men's triple jump and 200m, though I think gold and silver are already claimed in the later event unless something drastic happens to Bolt and Blake. Also a very outside shot at a medal in the 800 but it would take a perfect performance by one of the two American finalists.

US Women's BBall needs to get their ass in gear.

Down 4 to Australia at half in the Semifinals.

Whoever is doing commentary on NBC is going to make me root for the Aussies. :bonk:

That big Aussie (Candace) is a cheap shot artist. Punched one of the US players in the stomach coming across the lane. I saw her do the same thing in another game. Nice Olympic gesture:shake:

Geno switching to the zone defense in the second half probably won it for us. Very poor free-throw shooting by the United States team. Only about 60% which is very poor especially for women's basketball.
