London Olympics: "We're pretty much ready..."

Skepticism Is Warranted

Just watched the women's 400 individual swim final. Ye Shiwen won with a time of 2:07:57. Afterwards, Bob Costas doesn't praise the young lady, instead he calls into question her performance and states the following:

"Eye opening results to be sure for Ye Shiwen, and these days, suspicion almost inevitably comes with the territory she's now entered with her remarkable swim times this week."

"Major breakthroughs come with sports....so does doping."

WTF?!?

She negative split her last 100 in the 400 IM. Negative. Split. That doesn't happen in swimming, and it certainly doesn't happen to such an extent that it beats the men's splits. Her time beat the previous world record by a full second, that time was set in Bejing with a fastskin suit.

It's best summed up by Mark Spitz,

"Normally people that break world records are sort of like fading at the end. Yet, she actually galloped ahead and caught up to the world record pace and passed it. ... It was an incredible finish. I've never seen anything like that in my life,"

In terms of raw performance, her swim was one of the best ones ever.

I don't doubt all of that, and it's right to question it. It's just not right for Bob Costas to question it in the fashion he did, IMHO.

UGH....more shots of the Russian girls crying. Oh man, that's just so sad.

US men's swim team about to try for the 4X200 relay now.

Is it wrong that I am sitting here - a grown assed man crying like a baby?!?

Yes, corn. It is wrong.

How's it feel to know your wife is rubbing one out to Michael Phelps right now?

Used to it. She does it to Peyton Manning all the time. Which I don't understand that one. She likes doofus, goober looking tall guys.

She knew that Tyra Banks was mine (and others).
