Not only is it going to be hard enough to finish the season unbeaten, but it will be even harder to shake off the stigma from last year. We have what is considered a weak schedule, couple that with people not wanting to see an "over rated Ohio State team" blown out by another "invincible SEC powerhouse" and you can easily find ourself in a situation where the media will pump up CAL or Oregon, or who knows maybe even a USF, or one of those other 11 currently unbeaten teams while the weak big10 gets relegated to a lesser BCS bowl.
Can it happen, sure, but there are a lot of if's. Lets not go anointing ourselves 2 time NC winners with this current crop of guys just yet.
While I see your points I am not going to agree with them. If we run the table and another team from a BCS conference runs the table in addition to LSU or Cal, yes, I think that other team will get the nod. However, if there are two unbeatens, they will play each other, no matter how much media hype there is. tOSU was given no respect in 2002, people were saying they would rather a 1 loss team went so at least the game wouldn't be such a blowout, yet we went and we did our thing.
Sure, the hype helps, and yes people are looking at our conference as weak, however, if we win our games, and do what we do, hopefully the rest will work itself out.
There seems to be this idea that if we are unbeaten and USC or Cal is third with a loss they will get the nod over us, but that's why the BCS system is there, if there are two unbeaten teams from the six BCS conferences, they go to the big dance.
Either way, it's silly to be discussing this, we are halfway through the season with the real meat of our schedule coming up in a few weeks.
