Lloyd Carr video: last lockerroom speech

I get a bad feeling about RR. While it'll be nice continuing to own michigan while he attempts to fit a round peg in a square hole for the next few years, he just doesnt sit well with me. Listening to him on air during the game yesterday, he almost seemed like he doesnt know what hes getting into. Not to mention he dodged the question of why Michigan instead of Alabama, great question by the way, with implying that Michigan is a better program (Michigan vs. Alabama greatness argument would seem to be splitting hairs to me, they're both great historically).

I'm glad to see that Lloyd went out with a win and stressed the value of an education in his victory speech.

I second that ^^

Now I hate TSUN as much as any Ohio born TOSU fan can, but when all is said and done I must say I was happy to see them win yesterday.

It was a very strange feeling when I outwardly screamed "Yes", on one of their big plays, and realized that I was (for maybe the first time in my life) rooting for Michigan. I think the game was more about proving to the world, that yes, us slow Midwest boys can play with anyone! So I consider that game rooting for the Big 10...and rooting for a coach that is very classy to go out with a win (as long as he lost THE GAME). I think this is a sad day in the history of THE GAME.

Agreed. Congrats to Lllllloyd and the Wolverines for representing the conference and undoing much of the damage they did to the reputation of the B10 losing to app st, showing what big ten football can be when we come prepared to play aggressively. Here's to the buckeyes doing the same!!!!!

We'll definitely miss Lloyd since he was such a class act much like his mentor BO. I have to say that is a common theme more times than not in the Big 10 (class). While we'll miss uncle Lloyd we are anxious for a change towards a "modern" offense with coach Rodriguez...

I'm just curious as to the reason others in this thread seem to think Rodriguez is such a bad guy? I'm being serious, I don't know much about him yet. Just curious??

I will say one thing... If he does not represent the program with the same integrity established in the past (which Lloyd spoke about in his farewell speech), he'll be gone in no time. The Michigan program will not tolerate a dirty or tarnished image. I'm sure coach Rodriguez has been made well aware of that.

That being said, I think he'll fit just fine. Sorry for hi-jacking the thread.

You develop your reputation with the character of the individuals you develop under your care.... Pac-Man Jones/Chris Henry.

For anyone still wondering how they pulled off the win over Florida yesterday, I think it is now beyond obvious that there were two entire fan bases pulling for that win. That extra help you guys may have needed to make that last stop was postmarked in Columbus, OH. :wink2:

Now, don't let it go to your heads, and don't expect it to happen again! :tongue2:

Congrats once again to Lllllloyd Carr.

Fair enough...

Could the same be said for Tressell & osu relative to Maurice Clarrett? I think not! My statement is not meant to degrade Tressel or osu... I have a great respect for your coach & program. Every program and/or coach has problem children. That doesn't make the coach or program any less. If it's tolerated then it's wrong. Coaches can't make every decision for their players. I think the pac-man ordeal was after he left WVU anyway...

Time will tell. A lack of integrity won't fly within the Michigan program. It never has.

MoC comments aside, this statement stands true. I hate Michigan, I really do, but I honestly believe, that if things go south with the integrity of the staff or recruits, things will change and fast.

Agreed. Rich Rodriguez naturally looks like a step back from Lloyd Carr in the class department because Carr epitomizes it. But the Michigan program is bigger than one man and I have my doubts that a legacy that extends even past Bo Schembechler of doing things the right way will suddenly be forever turned on its head. I trust that along with learning "The Victors" and that we don't call it yellow, RR will also get a full indoctrination into "The Michigan Way."

Thanks for the link, jwins, I hadn't seen that. Always nice to see the behind-the-scenes stuff that we never get to see. Doubly and triply so when it's something as big as this.

The offense yesterday looked plenty "modern" to me. Its just getting your players in the correct position all of the time and then executing what they're supposed to do. Thats also a part of coaching though.

Who wants to bet Llllllloyd got a call from Columbus today congratulating him and the team on a big win last night? I'd almost guarantee it.

In an interview today Tressel gave him a lot of credit and praise.
