I don't think he's trying anything, I think he's more than likely done, he feels he can't do anymore for the program or wants to to move beyond him or however you call it. Look, if he wanted a ploy to motivate he could have easily had the long "do it for Bo" speech last year.

How do we know he didn't? It just seems pretty fishy for this to be "leaked" the week of The Game...

FWIW and I stress that this is a rumor.
I was talking to a business aquaintance yesterday and he is a grad of tsun.
Any way I was in the MacDonalds where he works and he told me that he happened to be up in tsun over the weekend and he was told my many people who are in the position to know that Carr will be gone this year if he loses to the Buckeyes.
I think I would hate to see that happen.
yup

This has been coming and there were strong rumors at the start of the season that it would happen this year. Precise timing is interesting, but why the heck shouldn't they use it to their advantage.

Also, has no one noticed the true genius in all this? That's right. CW.

He is coaching so badly that ND will buy him out right after his bowl game - maybe even sooner.

Then he can take the Michigan job. I have it from a reliable source that he has not been spending the money from the ND job and will pour it into the Michigan Athletic Budget. Then cherry pick the recruits he wants from the ND class - while still keeping the others from going to OSU.

Brilliant. Just brilliant.
BARF. At least we'll have awesome recruiting classes!!!111!!!1!

Well, as Oh8ch said above, why not use the announcement to his advantage?

This is The Game, the greatest rivaly in all of American sports. The outright Big Ten title is one the line. Hart, Henne, and Long stayed for their senior season for three things:
  1. Beat Ohio State
  2. Big Ten title
  3. National title
Number 3 was history after the first game, but now numbers 1 and 2 are in reach. If Michigan players actually need any further motivation, then they will lose the game.

Not a question of needing the extra motivation. It's just icing on the cake, so to speak. It can't hurt. Why bottle it up?

Whose gonna fark the pic of the Michigan players with sweatbands that read: "LLLLLoyd"?

I posted this picture somewhere on this board last year. I guess I'm missing a few "L's".

I know I am taking this out of context (I am sure he is in the business, not working the window), but it is Michigan week and it is fun to do such things. Would you like fries with that?

I'm still a bit curious as to why Miles seems to have an iffy reputation. I haven't seen LSU get embroiled in recruiting scandals on his watch, haven't seen LSU players getting in trouble on or off the field. Undoubtedly he's a top-caliber coach on the field.
