Live NFL 2006 Draft Coverage (official thread)

Rob Sims goes to Seattle with the 128th pick
I HATE espn... when Seattle made their pick they started talking about dumervil about just coming off the board. After rewinding, I noticed down below that sims was selected, despite the huge dumervil graphic that popped up and the talking heads highlighting him being picked. You have to try to be this pathetic at keeping people posted.

So who may be left?

Kudla - likely pick somewhere

Huston - kickers often get put through FA after the draft but he would be a valid pick-up late in the draft, his position rank as a kicker is pretty strong

Everett - A lot of defensive players already gone, and Tyler's rank is somewhere in the high 30's at his position - late pick?

Others?

I got to thinking, out of these remaining players, who else will go?

Clarett (sure first rounder had he remained at OSU)

I don't think Maurice could have held things together that long. IMO he was in psychological trouble before he even arrived on campus. He hasn't been able to put his life together since.

My totally-unsupported-by-reality theory is that he saw how fast his buddy LeBron was getting money and goodies and saw no reason why he shouldn't be also. The fact that college footbal and probasketball run under two different sets of rules never entered his mind.

He had to have died multiple deaths yesterday watching his classmates pick up their just rewards. Armored feces.

Carp in Dallas. I'm dieing here. Now the only way I'll ever get to root for him again is if they play Notre Dame, the Yankees or Buchenwald Prison Guards. None of those seem likely. Au Resvoire, Bobby, and good luck.

Did something happen with Rod Wright to make him fall this far? I remember seeing him in the first round in some early mock drafts.
looks like hornfans predicted him as a 3rd rounder:
- takes some plays off, looks soft, plays high and not up to potetial.
- Wright: He started out playing next to Marcus Tubbs, which caused some great plays due to neglecting him and subsequently raised expectations. Not that he played poorly, but I don't think I ever saw him get a quick step on an opponent. The NFL looks for lineman footwork, especially for 300+ lb. NTs. A lot of his great plays in the backfield were caused by just pushing the guard or center backwards in the QB's direction, regaining balance, and making something happen. Would he have that same edge on pro performers? The remainder of the time, if a play went laterally, the only way he'd get to the play is by playing tango until the offensive lineman either gave up or forced Wright into the ballcarrier/play. Dominant DTs should do more than rely on opponents' weaknesses.
