Les Miles (grass eater)

post game show is ripping Alleva to shreds right now.

basically said he either tried to do what Auburn attempted to Tubby a few years back and back door Miles.

or

they let him twist in the wind and have the school raked across the coals for two weeks for absolutely no reason.

either way it's not pretty and Alleva should have to answer for this one.

Les handled that post game press conference brilliantly.

LSU so thoroughly botched this it should be a case study in future business management classes. Don't let the guy everyone wants to fire twist so long he becomes a sympathetic figure.

Who's Alleva? The AD?

Forgive me for not knowing the cast of characters. I just always thought this was ridiculous from the beginning and never took it seriously...

this is no way to treat a man who twice turned down his dream job to stay here
I just want to take this opportunity to point out the story from Ann Arbor is Miles to Michigan was a done deal until Lloyd Carr (and possibly some other powerful program types who had been around long enough to know) stepped in and shut it down because they refused to bring back the guy who was banging Gary Moeller's wife on the reg as a member of the UM staff in the early 90s.

I've heard multiple stories on the Miles to Michigan thing from '07.
From this one all the way to him never being offered the gig.

I have no inside sources, so I don't know what did or didn't happen.

All I know is that at least publicly, all Les has ever said was how much he loved LSU and Baton Rouge. He considers this to be home.

if Miles sticks around for 2-1/2 more years and continues at his current pace, he'll break Cholly Mac's school record for all time wins.

LSU prez: Decision to keep Les Miles made at halftime of Texas A&M game
So how close was Les Miles to being fired? Well, based on all the speculation surrounding his job status in the final weeks of the regular season, it certainly seemed like the end was at hand for the Mad Hatter in Baton Rouge. The president of the school has now let us know just how close it was.

.
“After the type of budget battle we went through this past spring we certainly do not need to be throwing tens of millions of dollars around under certain circumstances,” he says. “We don't need to go into the next legislative session with a black eye that we're throwing tens of millions of dollars around on issues that aren't associated with academic progress.”

It was about the money after all.

Idiotic for him to put this out there.

Seems like a very well thought out and professionally managed endeavor from beginning to end.

LSU fans and alumni should be proud
