Les Miles, on LSU players going to bars: ‘I’m cutting it off’
An off-field incident involving an LSU football player will have ramifications for his teammates moving forward. Probably.
Tight end Dillon Gordon was stabbed multiple times, including at least once in the chest, during an altercation at a notorious bar near the LSU campus Monday night. While Gordon remains hospitalized, he sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
However, Gordon’s head coach has (again?) made an executive decision as to his players frequenting drinking establishments in the future.
“I’m cutting it off,” Les Miles said when it comes to his players’ access to nightclubs and the like. “It’s just not worth it. The reason you go out is because you want social interaction. Social interaction can take place at home, at class, can take place at a number of places. You don’t have to go to a fight nightclub.”
Interestingly, Miles added that what’s seemingly a new edict has “been an old rule,” although not very stringently enforced, apparently.
In August of 2011, starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson as well as a teammate were charged with felonies stemming from an incident outside of a bar. Two years later, star running back Jeremy Hill was charged with battery following an incident outside of a bar. This past year, defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao was arrested on battery and robbery charges following an incident outside of a bar.

Just sayin': Good luck trying to ban football players from bars.
