Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Not to mention, how in the [censored] can they afford to pay LBJ, Wade and Bosh, and yet still throw $25-30 mil at Mike Miller?

If the Heat had 46 mil to spend they could pay 3 players 15.3 mil each and then use the 4.8 mil MLE to sign one other player. I'm guessing this is where the Mike Miller money would come from. They probably have around 2 mil for the BAE that they could spend on a Center. I just don't think you can make it through an NBA season with a 6-7 man roster. They would have to decide if they would rather have Chalmers or Beasley in the lineup and shift the other players around accordingly. The only other chance they would have would be to find guys that would be willing to come in for the league min since I think you can sign guys to that even if you don't have any room under the cap. Since they wouldn't have any tradeable assets except for maybe Beasley they would have a hell of a time adding talent around the big 3 except for the draft or NBADL. Every offseason they would have around 5 mil to spend if you have someone that would sign an deal for the MLE.

Good read from Bill Simmons on the LBJ saga, and I totally agree with this part (although I'm not sure signing with Chicago fits the point anymore, especially after Boozer has already signed there):

...

13. I think it's a cop-out. Any super-competitive person would rather beat Dwyane Wade than play with him. Don't you want to find the Ali to your Frazier and have that rival pull the greatness out of you? That's why I'm holding out hope that LeBron signs with New York or Chicago (or stays in Cleveland), because he'd be saying, "Fine. Kobe, Dwight and Melo all have their teams. Wade and Bosh have their team. The Celtics are still there. Durant's team is coming. I'm gonna go out and build MY team, and I'm kicking all their asses." That's what Jordan would have done. Hell, that's what Kobe would have done.

In May, after the Cavs were ousted in the conference semifinals, I wrote that LeBron was facing one of the greatest sports decisions ever: "winning (Chicago), loyalty (Cleveland) or a chance at immortality (New York)."

I never thought he would pick "HELP!"

If wade bosh and lebron all took the max, Miami would be over the new cap right now. They have 3.2 million in cap holds as well. Even if they traded beasley for straight cap space they can't sign miller to that deal without the big 3 taking a nice sized pay cut.
