Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Word on Chicago sports talk radio (which is pretty plugged in to the powers that be) is that LeBron made an 11th hour request for an extra 17 chairs at his meeting with the Bulls. The Entourage will be in tow.

Interesting point that they brought up was that The Entourage has NOTHING to gain from Lebron leaving Cleveland. In Cleveland, The Entourage are the big fish in a little pond. In New York, Miami or Chicago, they start hearing, "get yer ass to the back of the line unless LeBron shows up."

He's gone IMO. The thing is though is that once he leaves, the City of Cleveland will bash him and say "How could you do this LeBron!?". As for me he's better off going somewhere else to be honest because we've never surrounded him with a wingman that can take pressure off him. Shaq had Kobe, Jordan/Pippin, Duncan/Davidson, who has Lebron really had??? Mo Williams, a washed up shaq, Jamison or Z? Come on now.

If his goal is to win a championship then IMO he's best suited at another place, such as Miami or Chicago. Obviously I want him in a Cavs jersey because it keeps butts in the seats but I'm not holding my breathe. I also won't be upset if he does leave because he's done great things for the Cavs/Ohio. Just because he's not in Cleveland doesn't mean he doesn't love our state.

Gilbert is a bright guy. You don't get to be a billionaire by being stupid...

Isn't this the guy that kept Mike Brown around for two or three years longer than he should have? I think you'd certainly agree with that, given your posts regarding Brown's coaching abilities. I'm not saying Gilbert is stupid, but he's clearly not above making bad decisions.

he cannot win a championship faster in miami, and chicago is debatable.

Chicago isn't debatable if it's Lebron, Chris Bosh, and Derrick Rose.

If they can pull those guys to Chicago with the assurance that Rose will get a max deal when his contract is up in a couple years then that would be a slam dunk. I really hope that Bosh wants to be the man someplace rather than the 2nd or 3rd option.

They can assure all they want about Rose getting a max deal in a couple years.....but with Lebron+ there I doubt it happens. Every fricken year in the 90s you had to worry about the Jerry's breaking up the team. What a bunch of clowns those guys were/are.

Yeah we're winning every NBA title ever, but we might not bring back MJ, Pippen, and Jackson. They're so expensive!!!

Couple things....
Lets not forget about the egos involved. Does Lebron want to admit he needs another superstar to win a championship? I know the Jordan/Pippin argument, but they were both drafted, thats different in that its a crap shoot, Pippin coulda been bust. I know it sounds great in theory but I just don't see all these guys going to the same team.

I keep seeing this Lebron signs another 3 year deal from some dude at SI.com, Thompson I think.... I don't think its happening unless Lebron wants to lose a lot of money (considering the CBA is about up, etc) but lets consider this if your the Cavs...
do you
a) Let Lebron sign a 3 year deal, knowing no-one else will come there without a sign and trade, basically its the same situation before
b) Assuming he wont sign a 6 year max deal, you let him walk or sign-and-trade.

me, unless I have a sign and trade in hand for a real "wingman" then I'm letting him walk rather than hold the franchise hostage like he did for the past 3 years.

didnt see this posted but pretty interesting read

Sports business titan sees long marriage for Cavs' Gilbert, LeBron - NBA - CBSSports.com Basketball

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica]There are those on the team side of things willing to speculate on their chances of landing LeBron. There are those from various, competing factions of LeBron's camp who are willing to do the same. But only Greenberg has the kind of experience as a stakeholder with both Gilbert and LeBron, so his words carry considerable weight in this breathless debate about where James will decide to spend the prime years of his career as an athlete and icon. The main reason I still hold out hope is that the economic landscape is changing the the Cavs hold the best offer. Brian Windhorst outlined many of these points on Twitter this morning, and I think (hope) they point to an advantage for the Cavs.

Source: Knicks eye Johnson, not James | SNY.tv: News

The Knicks are targeting Joe Johnson as their No. 1 free agent choice and believe he's a better fit for the team than LeBron James, according to an NBA source with knowledge of the team's plans. "Yes, we think he's a better player," the source said of Johnson. "He makes other people better. With LeBron's people running the locker room that hurts the organization."
