Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

It's a little misleading, because it factors in the likelihood of each team needing to first get to the finals. So in other words, if San Antonio were in the East and Cleveland in the West, they wouldn't even be remotely near each other. Probably 1-2 odds for San Antonio and 10-1 odds for Cleveland.
Or really just the fact that people are hammering that bet and Vegas needs to make less incentive to do so by diminishing the return some.

That too probably. I heard on the radio yesterday that it's such a hot item for them that Vegas released an over/under on wins early for them only. It was like 57 which is rediculous. If they get Love I could maybe see it, but without him I'd guess 52 at absolute most.

Whoa. 57 is a lot of wins. I'd be betting the under there.

The Central Division alone will provide good competition, plus 30 games against Western Conference teams. Not saying this team won't be good-to-great, but it takes a lot to approach 60 wins.

Yep, have to remember how Vegas works. They prefer money being evenly distributed to lower their risk. People started betting Cleveland to win the NBA title when it was 60-1 odds... If you had some big bets with that number, or even 30-1, that is a big return if enough money came in on that.

That is the real reason the Cavs are the favorite to win the NBA title. Cuz Vegas does not want any more action on the Cavs... no matter what.

If the Cavs get Love? I can totally see the odds go insane and might end up a negative number just to stop people from gambling on them.

Lebron agrees to two year deal. With a one year opt-out.

This is actually the best thing for the Cavs. It gives the organization more flexibility to pursue Free Agents next year.

I believe, if it came down to signing a big name free agent like K.Love, that LeBron may be willing to negotiate his contract down "some" to ensure the deal gets done. Then, the following year, the cap space will raise and LeBron can return to getting the Max deal.

No need for the Cavs to give up Wiggins. He is a young super athletic guard, we will need his energy and legs in the playoffs.
I hope we get to see a roster of: Irving, Wiggins, Lebron, Love
That is what I would call...The Big 4...The spur destroyers.

It's a two year deal because the salary cap goes up significantly in two years when the new TV deal is signed.

I just really hope this is different from the last time he signed these short deals with the Cavs. Hopefully he's telling the free agents that yes he's committed to be here after a couple of years.... unlike the last time he signed a short term deal with the cavs.

He's too self-aware to bail again. Especially after only two years. I don't buy his reasoning, but I do believe he's here for the long haul. He's all about his legacy, and bailing on Cleveland a second time would ruin it.

Yes exactly, I was also making the point that its in Cavs best interest as well. Being able to clear up 21M in cap space makes a lot of things possible.
Even if no additions are made and nothing changes, having that potential is an advantage over other teams.
Some people on Cavs forums are afraid that LeBron would jump to a better team again, I think that's highly unlikely.

I think he has already done that, by writing "The Letter". LeBron showed an extreme amount of maturity in his coming home letter.
I was one of the people who said, LeBron would not come back to the Cavs, until they at least make it to the playoffs.
LeBron has stated he realizes it will be a long hard process and that they wont be instant contenders like Miami was.

He stated his connection to NE Ohio is bigger than basketball, he wants to raise his family here, and finish his career here
Bottom Line: LeBron is here for Life.
That is the clearest statement he could have made to other Free Agents.
He has proven he is a champion on every level and that he is the best basketball player in the world.
"Whats not to like?"

on a similar note, can the cavs ever cut / trade lebron if he was old and not the julio franco of hoops?

With his height and muscle mass, he can probably still be very effective late in his career by becoming more of a spot shooter. Similar to Paul Pierce, but much better. I doubt the Cavs would ever want to trade LeBron. He will retire a Cavalier.

With his build he'll probably end his career as a 4. I'm thinking Bennett on his best day.

1) I don't follow the NBA or know anything about the contracts, but say Love stays put this year (I am thinking we should keep Wiggins)...is he out of his contract next year? If so, I think it would make sense to play hardball and only leave the Bennett/Waiters,1st rounder deal on the able. If they keep saying no, screw them and add Love next year to Lebron, Kyrie, and Wiggins. That would be RIDICULOUS. If that is the scenario, can we also hang on to Bennett and Waiters?

2) I would bet my left one that UFM is going to really utilize the hell out of LeBron now in recruiting. He might be a perpetual game attender this year (hopefully).
