Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

In a close game a charge vs blocking call, moving screen, hand check or no call on contact will change the outcome. There wouldn't be any giant controversey, because they are judgement calls. That is how the NBA can force a game 7.

Edit, I just remembered this thread. http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/professional-basketball/628513-nba-officiating.html

All it takes is to watch one Scott Foster game. The guy just destroys Heat opponents in the first half of games but scales it back in the third and especially the fourth quarters.

To someone who passively watches the game, you wouldn't notice a thing. 50/50 calls on who the ball went out on, moving screens, tone-setting calls through the paint, etc. It's obvious as day to those who really understand the intricacies of a game.

But it adds up. Just a quick math problem. If you assume an NBA team will shoot 50% from the field, and you give them 4 "extra possessions" on tipped balls out of bounds that are "50/50" calls, 2 extra possesions on questionable offensive fouls, and 6 free throws in the first half on horrible shooting calls.

That's likely worth 10 points. Easily. Give Miami a 10 point lead at the half and see what happens....

I'd challenge anyone to go back and watch Scott Foster's protection of Miami throughout this playoffs. Every 50/50 ball has been given to Miami, and a majority had video evidence to prove his call was wrong. His handling of the Chicago Bulls was insane. And his handling of the Sam young/Brian Shaw technicals was worse. The guy has a 14-1 record for Miami when calling their games, and it shows when you watch the tape.

It's actually horrifying the NBA keeps trotting him out for games. It's basically a huge middle-finger to the public. Watch the Vegas line of a Heat game with Foster as an official. He's worth multiple points alone...

Which is why anybody that takes the nba seriously is a fool. The game has been destroyed in the last decade to the point that I (who used to LOVE the nba) won't even watch it anymore for more than a couple of minutes.

This is all you need to know about Scott Foster. Not only is the dude terrible at his job, and the Heat's personal bag man, he's tied to Tim Donaghy as well. The fact that David Stern could let this guy officiate so many miami playoff games is a sham itself.

Saw this when googling him to see his history with the Spurs. Forgot that he was the one who got in the fight with Duncan, and also found this great .gif :)

It figures.......

Referee assignment: Joe Crawford, Mike Callahan, Ken Mauer, and Marc Davis.

quite the all-star cast. ken mauer is best known for calling 5 technicals in the course of 10 seconds of gameplay and marc davis is most famous for giving reggie evans a technical for high fiving his teammate.

that bodes well for san antonio.

Crawford is a wild card. Stars hate him because Crawford thinks he is the star and takes it upon himself to create drama. He's the only official to foul LeBron out of the playoffs, twice. On the other hand, he ran Duncan for laughing on the bench, on what were two AWFUL calls. I don't think Crawford gives either team an advantage, he's just unpredicatble.

I think Ken Mauer and Callahan are decent.

If it goes to game 7, Monte McCutheon will 100% be in the crew which is a good thing.

It's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off.

LeBron's new shoe refers to him as a two-time champion - Deadspin

This here is a picture of the sockliner of the new LeBron X shoe, which boasts a fancy floral colorway. It's kind of weird that it says "2-time champion" because, you know, LeBron is just a one-time champion right now, and he will continue to be one for the foreseeable future if the Heat lose to the Spurs tonight.

Still: that floral pattern is pretty neat!
