Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

It's going to be interesting this week to see how the paragon of loyalty handles this juggling act. Is he really going to publicly support his avowed favorite football team against the team of his new home town? Guess that Dancing With the Stars appearance is coming sooner than expected. Tap dance, LBJ, tap dance.

LBJ supported the Yankees at an Indians game; and I know he was outwardly supportive of the Cowboys, but I vaguely remember him being on the Cowboys sideline when they played against the Browns.

I fully anticipate him continuing to support tOSU. I am just curious to see how the fans react. If he had an adviser worth a nickel, they would tell him to stay away this year, just to let the situation cool down a little bit and show up on the sideline for tOSU next year in Miami. Perform a few little things to start wining a few of the fans over back in Ohio this year by making positive remarks about the situation and the fans (of Ohio in general). Over the next few seasons the abundance of hatred will cool down some.

He'll never be received anywhere in Ohio as he used to be; but he can start to soften the vicious nature after a couple of years. Quickest way to do that in the state of Ohio is to be the Buckeyes biggest celebrity supporter.

He's the biggest something, but I think it has more to do with being a mule's baby daddy.

As to his "support" of our Buckeyes restoring his rep: Ever hear the one that goes "Fool me once..."?

I think this post really misses the mark...he's only a Buckeye fan b/c they were good during his childhood.

Just like the Bulls, Cowboys, and Yankees.

I don't want a front-running POS being the celebrity supporter of my favorite college football team. If Miami beats OSU in the 2002 National Title, Miami is prob his favorite squad.

Fuch him.

Didn't realize i was commenting on his reasons for supporting the Buckeyes?

There will be always be a very strong anti-sentiment for LBJ in Ohio amongst the mature fans. But the (15-30 years of age), which the NBA is most popular, will still be influenced by him, even in this state. The most popular draw in this state is the Buckeyes. The passionate and loyal fanbase of the Cavs, which is very small relative to Buckeye nation, will always hate him.

I was only commenting on his attempts to stay in good graces with tOSU fans.

I think you're underestimating the general hate for him in the state of Ohio and amongst the Ohio State fan base. LeBron didn't only make himself look like a douche to Cavs fans, but everyone outside of Miami. He's still a national joke.

I mean, I get your underlying point. And I'm sure most college football players would like to be recognized by him, such as TP, but as fans of the program very few people would like to see him on the sideline supporting the Buckeyes. He took a shit on the Northeast Ohio, a very pro buckeye area, and there are a lot of Cavs fans in the state of Ohio.

Keep him off the sidelines b/c we don't need that circus. I have no doubt if the Buckeyes don't send an invite, he could be invited by the Miami coaching staff, and he'll wear his Buckeye hat. Just like the Indians invited him to a playoff game and he wore Yankees gear. The Browns invited him to a game, and he wore his Cowboys gear. I'm surprised he didn't play Cavs games in a Bulls hat.

Douchebag.

Believe you me, I am not underestimating the level of hatred. Because I have it. That's why I said stay away this year. There is nothing that he could do to win me back. At the same time he will continue to speak to the younger crowd and nationwide as a Buckeye fan. He is alienated from the rabid Cavs fan, though. But again, rabid Cavs fan and loyal Cleveland sports fan is still smaller than Buckeye nation.

To be honest I really don't care much at all what he does. I am curious to see what kind of response he gets in the Shoe if he is on our sidelines wearing our gear. I do, however agree with you, he should stay away (especially right now) if only to limit the backlash.

Absolutely. He's a semi-literate, low-class embarrassment who has never done a single thing to support Ohio State....and no, I don't count wearing a make believe Ohio State uniform on the SI cover as any tangible form of support. Why slap the faces of tens of thousands of loyal alumni and other fans in NE Ohio by letting this imbecilic man-child attach himself to the program.

LeBron is such a selfish douche, I could see our coaching staff telling him "thanks, but no thanks", while still showing up as a guest of Miami.

I almost expect this to happen.

And LeBron being the douche that he is, will show up in spite of our coaching staff not wanting the circus. Granted he'll be on the opposing teams sideline, but it will still be a circus. And there is a 100% chance he is on the sideline in Miami. Which one remains to be seen...

Randy Shannon has already stated LeBron can come to their football practices whenever he wants....

I'd frankly rather see him on the Miami side, if he has to show up at all. This giant leech has zero affiliation with the university. His presence on the field would serve no purpose except to siphon energy and attention to him. I will be extremely disappointed if the university and the team participate in this charade. LBJ is contamination, plain and simple. Nothing more. He should be avoided like the plague he is.

Pryor says if LeBron shows, please, no boos
By TIM MAY

It?s still not clear whether LeBron James is going to make the scene on Saturday afternoon for the Ohio State-Miami game in Ohio Stadium, but until further notice, OSU quarterback Terrelle Pryor expects him to show.

?I think he is, actually, but I?m not sure,? Pryor said yesterday. ?I haven?t talked to him since after the Marshall game? last Thursday night.
Asked whether he expected James to root for Ohio State, Pryor quickly said ?He?s a Buckeye.?

But the question needed to be asked, since in June the basketball star originally from Akron disappointed many in his fan base when he said he was leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers in favor of joining the Miami Heat.

?If LeBron does come just treat him with respect, and respect his decision,? Pryor said. ?Please, no name calling, or booing, or anything like that. Because that?s my mentor, and I?ve got a lot of respect for him, a lot of love for him.?

Pryor says if LeBron shows, please, no boos (Blogging the Buckeyes)
