Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

The third team in 24 hours to be in the lead for Lebron.

Lebron's camp is excellent at building up... whatever it is they're building. Too bad that what they're building is only hurting his image. And people thought he was a drama queen before this. Can't imagine what they'll think of him after it's over.

ESPN has spent all day ripping Lebron. They have a special devoted to his decision. When that happens, you're doing it wrong.

Eh...only thing is, this is GM's/agents making a rationale hypothesis. Everything else has been leaks from players in the league...for example, Mike Miller's agent saying the Heat gave his client until midnight to make his decesion and that the Heat feel like they're in great shape.

And reports that LeBron's team is already putting feelers out to veterans in the league to join the All-Stars in Miami.

Logically, it doesn't make much sense to damage his career in Miami...no more MVP's, hurts his brand image sharing Miami with D-Wade and Bosh, any championships he wins will be undermined by having to leave Cleveland and join superstars cause he couldn't do it alone. And going to Miami is awful for the NBA. Who would their rival even be? Maybe LA for a year or two?

I think it's a bad decesion...hopefully he's just playing a game. 7 titles in Miami doesn't mean a lot at the end of the day when it's done with 3 players in the top 10 of the NBA...2 of the top 3 at that.

Not any worse than lots of suits pushed forward by attorneys. Nowadays you can sue for anything and collect which is a very sad state of affairs.
Nah - not so much. Would that it were so BB. I've never been able to get my hands on that mythical "sue for anything and collect" cash that I heard everyone else getting.

The stupid mooks down here insist on actual liability and proof of damages. Assholes :pissed:

Bingo. LBJ leaves Cleveland for Miami and he becomes the next Paul Pierce--couldn't get it done himself and so he teamed up with a pair of stars.

Someone explain to me why Chris Paul is out of reach? I didn't quite understand that. Are the Hornets just unwilling? Because when his contract ends, he's gone. They have no chance on winning anything before then, and if they wait till it expires, they'll get nothing from him. Just doesn't make sense not to trade him to the desperate Cavs.

Gasol's a top 10 player?
Shaq and Wade both were top 10 players in '06?
Drexler was a top 10 player when with the Rockets, as opposed to when with Portland?

You really should do yourself a favor and not respond next time.

Gasol may not be a top ten player, but he is one of the best centers of today. I don't think there are 3 better than him.

Same to Clyde and Shaq in their positions at the time. You put that together with the top two guards in Wade and Kobe, and you've got a title.

Gasol is no worse then a top 15 and when Clyde and Shaq won titles both were at the top of their game.

Shaq and Wade were both top 10 players in '06, no debate on that.

Clyde scored 28pts and 9 rebs a game. Easily a top 10 back then.

It makes sense to me for the Hornets to deal him. They drafted Collision, who played pretty well in Paul's absence last season. With a redundancy at the position, I think they'd be well-served to get something in return for Paul. Maybe they don't like the return from Cleveland. Maybe they thing there is more value in waiting to deal him at the deadline next season. I dunno.

It's kinda frustrating to see all the effort the Cavs have put into making moves over the years. It seems other NBA teams had no problems making moves to tank seasons, dump salary and not be competitive in the name of clearing cap space. The Cavs try to compete and improve their roster, and they're rebuffed at most every turn.

I can honestly say I haven't watched a single second of e!spn programming in, probably, six weeks. I decided on a moratorium to avoid all the LeBron crap and it's made life much easier in general. Being that they're essentially TMZ for the average male, it's easier to find legitimate news from various sources across the internet. Hopefully Prince is wrong, because I'm quite enjoying my e!spn-free existence.

I usually have it on in the background. But I haven't heard anything positive about Lebron today. All negative. Surprising.

You act like something is wrong with this as you keep harping on PP needing help to win a title. Jordan needed Pippen, Wade needed Shaq etc. I could go on and on with this but whats the point? Basketball is a team sport and you need other superstars to win.

Next time you try to call someone out make sure you got something to back it up with. /pwned

I'll say this as I head home and won't be on the board until after the decision...it would be really, really nice if Cleveland could get a significant sports victory.

Now, of course, sports victories are primarily measured in championships, as it should be. However, history would judge LeBron staying in Cleveland as a major sports victory for the city. It would be a major victory to keep him from the lure of the big cities like NY and Chicago and even LA (do the Clippers count?), and to keep him away from the potential All-Star team in Miami. It would be a major victory for the struggling blue collar small market team, where the rich get richer and the poor become the Pirates. And perhaps even above all it will keep the franchise relevant, and in the limelight, as a small market team...much like the Pittsburgh Penguins are. When was the last time you could say that about any other Cleveland team? 1997? I don't know. I do know that up until now, the Cavs do something that has not been a part of Cleveland sports much...they matter...every offseason people want to know what they are doing, and in NBA previews people ask if this is "the year", and during the regular season they are always part of the "playoff collision course" with someone or another, be it Boston or Orlando or LA (we wish).

This will all go away if LBJ leaves. Could the Cavs still fight for a playoff spot? Sure, they could, if things fall their way. But they won't "matter" anymore, like they did. It sure would be nice if this city could catch a break. Maybe this is it...just this once. I am hoping...even if my gut tells me there's no point.
